I would be grateful if someone could look at the 1921 census and tell me where the following lived.
Robert nightingale, Elizabeth (wife), Florence (daughter) John Robert (son) and possibly Constance (daughter). I know they lived in Preston, Lancashire
Many thanks.

I’m sorry that I didn’t give all 5he information as I didn’t think it was necessary for the information needed.
Robert and Elizabeth were my grandparents and were married on the 5th June, 1909. Elizabeth’s maiden name was Anyon and Florence was my mother.

Thank you both for your replies. They were helpful.

Any enquiry for records needs as much info as you have

You know family , helpers don’t :-)

John Robert died in 1926 aged just 15. Do you know the tragic circumstances of his death?

PatW Report 30 Sep 2023 13:51

John Robert known to the family as Robert was cleaning his pushbike with cleaning fluid a few days before Christmas and accidentally drank some of the fluid thinking he was drinking water as it was in a similar container. He died on Christmas Day 1927 not 1926. I have his death certificate and the coroners report.

ArgyllGran Report 30 Sep 2023 16:33

Strange - the records say 1926.

Deaths Dec 1926
Nightingale John R 15 Preston 8e 669

GRO Reference: 1926 D Quarter in PRESTON Volume 08E Page 669

And the newspaper entry:

NIGHTINGALE. —On Christmas Day, at the Royal Infirmary, JOHN ROBERT (ROBERT), the dearly loved and only son of ROBERT and ELIZABETH NIGHTINGALE, aged 15 years.—l7B, Roebuck-street, Preston. Just when our hopes were brightest God took him Home to rest. "God’s will be done.”
Published: Wednesday 29 December 1926
Newspaper: Lancashire Evening Post

PatW Report 30 Sep 2023 18:13

I apologise ArgyllGran as you are right with the date. I’ve had a look at the certificate and the 1926 was very badly hand written when I applied for a copy of the death certificate. It’s almost covered with a blob of ink so I’ve amended it in my records.
I haven’t got a copy of the death announcement which was in the newspaper at the time.

ArgyllGran Report 1 Oct 2023 14:55

I've edited my last post to give the last sentence of the newspaper announcement in full.

Thank you. It’s appreciated.
