Heather

Heather Report 16 Jun 2007 16:54

Well when you get that marriage cert see if it ties in with the 1891 guy who is a shopkeeper as his dad. (see below)

Anis Report 16 Jun 2007 16:56

Theres so much info out there now, I dont want to put too much on here because it will make it even more confusing for you. Do the Oxenhams also have connections to Buckinghamshire. Anyway, Im worried about putting the wrong info into your head now! I reckon we ought to wait to see what that cert says before I start giving you stuff that may lead along the wrong lines for you. So just this bit - keep til later. (this is why you need a good family tree program - to keep all these odds and ends which MAY fit later. England & Wales, FreeBMD Birth Index: 1837-1983 Birth, Marriage, & Death Name: James Henry Oxenham Birth: Sep 1878 - St Saviour Southwark, London, Surrey

Anis

Anis Report 16 Jun 2007 17:07

ohhh......living peoples arguments are more important than my dead ancestors!!!! lol ......Mary anns daughter harriett lived in peckham once married.....maybe her mother moved there before 1901? I also know that harriett was living with her future hubby 'enest and his wife catherine at one point, but that won't help you!!!! sorry.... lol

Anis

Anis Report 16 Jun 2007 17:15

I'll keep it.........I get confused on my own anyway...... lol I'll have a butchers myself too....like that I wont feel too guilty about letting you do all the work!! I'll also try and find the family tree maker program....it looks good!!! I'll also have to write down where i got all the info from, as suggested in the newbie thread.... i've got over 200 names, and definatly not that number of certs!!!! bye for now...

Heather

Heather Report 16 Jun 2007 17:16

Just realised you said Harriets 'mother' moved - no dad - went back to freebmd: in case you hadnt mentioned James dying. Cant see him here, but these are handy for you. Yes, thats the idea, go and have a mooch round freebmd and ancestry. And get the tree program asap as I look back and Ive no sources for my earliest stuff. Plus you will have that months sub to ancestry to go through all the census materials etc. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Deaths Dec 1891 (>99%) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Oxenham James 36 St. Saviour 1d 62 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Deaths Dec 1893 (>99%) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Oxenham James 1 St. Olave 1d 207 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Deaths Dec 1898 (>99%) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Oxenham James John 38 St. Saviour 1d 57

Well, 6ft son being grabbed by scruff by 5ft 8 hubby at the time and I thought Id better separate them! (Money probs as usual - this kid lets it fall through his fingers and then gets bills he expects us to pay. - But on top of that - he tells us he is taking the girlfriend to a posh restaurant tonight - hence row!) Son now gone out to the dozy girlfriends but did shout out, sorry as he went - so there you go - until tomorrow! LOL. Hard to concentrate on my Acton's lightermen apprenticeships and this site whilst listening to it though Clive!

Anis

Anis Report 16 Jun 2007 19:35

lol..... sorry, too much info is a bad thing...... firstly, could someone look this family up on the 1901 census? Katherine welch was born 1898, oct, 1 bermondsey place, horselydown , father james welch, a wharf labourer, mother julia welch, formerly Coakley Coakley is aprobable irish name.....so julias family might not be around..... and Welch got changed alot to walsh or welsh...... And could someone tell me the best way to look for families after 1901.....? thankyou

Heather

Heather Report 16 Jun 2007 19:41

Right 1. thing at a time - after 1901 isnt easy - some names will be on the freebmd - otherwise you have to trawl through the complete bmd on ancestry - not an easy job. Then there is pay to view familyrelatives.org which is name searchable up to 1920.
