Lesley- appologies for missing you. Entering criteria 1850+/- 10 years, so encompassing 1840-1860, there are 80 returns for that name. Narrow it down a bit? Did her husband remain in the same place.if so where?

Thanks Jess, I just wish they could have been a bit more imaginative with names. Perhaps thats why we find them with a middle name after a few years of life, they added it to be a bit different. Didn't think of us poor souls trying to sort it all out, did they! Thanks again Gloria

christine. your request - pasted here- its easier. You reply will also be here. ................................................................................... Sorry if this is not how I should ask the questions. New to this threads thing. SAMUEL JOHNSTONE I have him 10 days old in the 1851 census Caerlaverock, Dumfries. Would like to know his address in the 1901 census. I know him to be in Oadby, Leicester with his wife Mary. I would also like to know if you can tell if he is the same Samuel Johnstone that died in the 3/4 of 1923 in Leicester that I found on www1837. He was a gardener that moved about a bit but might still be in Oadby when he died. I live in Scotland where the www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk site has given me all I need for all but this one person that 'escaped' south! Please, if you find anything, send info back via this message page. Thanks Christine

Hi Jess, I have written to you before as regards this family and have just recieved the birth certificate of the lady in question. Eliza Davies (1) married James Herbert Marsden 1896 in Heaton Norris Stockport. They are in 1901 with two children, and Eliza (1) is down as being born in Matlock, Derbyshire. Her father on the marriage cert was Thomas Richard (but looks like Rachel) Davies (desceased--we had a chat about this the other day, I sent for the wrong cert). On Eliza (2)Davies birth cert, her father is Thomas Davies, mother Martha Ann Davies nee Jackson, they lived at Cheadle Bulkeley, Stockport. I have found this Eliza (2) on 1881 and 1891 census The Eliza (1)in 1901 married to James Herbert is correct but I am trying to link her as the same person as Eliza (2). I know this sounds complicated and as there are so many coincidences in name it should be the same person, I am having trouble convincing myself of it though. Hope you can help, we have been part of the way down this route before. Gloria xx
