Hi Jess. If you are looking for something to relieve the boredom, would you please have a look on the 1891 Census for me. On the 1881 I have Celia E Lawrey born 1848 in Polruan Cornwall. She was living 1 Looe Street Plymouth as a Grocer. She had a 10 year old daughter Elizabeth May Lawrey b 1871 in Parr Cornwall. I saw a marriage record for a Celia E Lawrey in 1883 in Plymouth for the same name and the grooms were either Charles Ogilvie or James Pitts Stewart. It would have been a second marriage for her. Her surname changes in the spelling from Lawry to Lawrey. Can you find any of them on the 1891 for me. Thanks.

Hi Jess, I am looking for Mary Alexandra Greenhalgh - I have her in born 1887. I have her in 1891 Census (I think) at 67 Chapel Street, Pendleton, Salford. Father Thomas Greenhalgh aged 36 - Railway Shunter (pointsman), born pendleton, salford. Hannah - wife - aged 31, Cotton weaver, born Wrexham, Denbigshire Daughter - Margaret aged 8 Daughter - Mary A aged 4 QAll except Hannah, born in Pendlton. In 1881 I have found at 7 Brunswick Place, Salford, the following: Hannah c 1860, born Wrexham, Callow Weaver, Thomas, c1855, born Pendleton, Railway Pointsman, Shunter. Ada c1880 - daughter. I have found 2 marriages - Thomas Greenhalgh to 'a Hannah' both in Bolton: 1). Hannah Walsh Bolton 8c 409 - Sep, 1880 2). Hannah Phillips, Bolton 8c 372 - Sep. 1882 I don't know if either of these are connected. I cannot find a birth of a Hannah Walsh (which I thought was the more likely marriage), in Wrexham, But, I did find a birth of a Hannah Phillips in Wrexham, Dec. Quarter, 1861 - 11b 264. This confuses me as I think the 1880 marriage is more likely. In 1901 I cannot find the family I have found a Hannah Greenhalgh in the Salford Union Workhouse, Regent Road, Salford - she is born Wrexham but is only 39 (when she should be 41?) -+ she is with her widdowed aunt Sophia Henderson (Domestic Servant), also from Wrexham. This has got so confusing, I can't remember what the question was but basically can you help me find Mary Alexandra Greenhalgh + her family in 1901 PLEASE ??? Perhaps this will make more sense to you ?? Regards, Dea.

Jess. Another challenge if you need one. Does the 1901 give an actual address. I'm looking for Sarah May born 1868 in Plymouth and was living in Kingskerswell Devon in 1901. Thanks.

Hi Jess, Sorry - I thought it was clear , but obviously not!. No - I don't have proof of her parents but the address of 67 Chapel Street on 1891 is good because it is just around the corner from John Street where I know she went to school. + the age is correct. I couldn't find any alternatives but you seen to have done. What can you suggest? Dea x.

Dea

Dea Report 8 Apr 2005 20:40

Just seen the next bit of your message added - the only other possibility would be the bottom one - aged 4, pendleton - if this is another one and not the same as you have given. Dea. x

Thank Jess, Fell over??? are you O.K.? From the info you give, I will have to explore more new names - Sophia Henderson in the workhouse as aunt to Hannah, and now Ibbottson, aunt to Mary. Sometimes I wish I didn't have any relatives. !!! I wonder what happened to Thomas ? Dea. x

Phoenix Report 8 Apr 2005 21:26

Hi Jess Would be very grateful if you could find a marriage for me - I have tried and failed. I'm looking for the marriage of Helena Martin born c1892 in Roborough, Devon (Torrington area), to a James Baker. I'm trying to determine if the information I have on Helena's family is correct (Father John Martin born c1869 and Mother Bertha/Matilda Martin born c1867) and who James's family were as I'm not sure if he was from the Devon area or not. I would assume that they married around 1912, possibly a bit later, and there may have been one daughter (Dora) already? Any information would be very much appreciated as I've hit a bit of a brick wall with this one. Thanks Kaye x

Kaye. ancestry coverage for that time is too sparce to be of use.You need to but some credits for '1837 on line' for dates after about 1910. I can look in the 1901 census for you for the 2 people when i know who to look for. ~Jess~
