Hello, Could anyone tell me what an Overseer did please in a parish? My husbands GGGfather John Hancock was an overseer in Parish of Old Stratford. Thank you Shirley

Shirley I found this info on a site that list old occupations. Overseer. The officials who performed the assessments and collection of the poor rates. Hope this helps. Lynda
