A carman was a delivery driver - usually hired by the day, like a temp - an annuitant is someone who is living off the income from an annuity or pension. HTH. Maz. XX

Still very busy but found BODGER Bodger... A forest worker making chairs, spars, spindles etc from un-cured wood. Beetroot chutney next!!!!! Anne

ANN, A Whaleboner put the whalebone stays into the corsets. That was the first job my Mother did after leaving school back in 1920's she got 10/- per week for and had to walk 5 miles there & back each day. MIKE.
