What is the right way to record Newcastle Upon Tyne? As Newcastle Upon Tyne, Northumbria or Newcastle Upon Tyne, Northumberland? Paul

Paul Newcastle upon Tyne is now in Tyne & Wear but before county reorganisation would have been in Northumberland Rod

Local Government reorganisation 1974. Note that the name Newcastle upon Tyne (not hyphenated) is now the correct name, but in the past various names were used such as Newcastle on Tyne or hyphenated versions, as you will see by people's entries in the postings. Stan Driver
