HELP, ..Washing machine

Anyone good with problem machines?

My washing machine at present is full of clothes and has overfilled with water to the point that it's leaking out of the seal round the door..... About 5 minutes into it's initial main wash.
..I have a large baking tin catching the said water, have turned off the 2 inlet water taps, thrown a towel to contain seepage and turned off machine.... What now?

Do I wait for water to find it's normal level....or shall I turn the machine onto spin and empty water or what ?
I don't want to create more pressure on the door though and thereby turn a trickle into a gushing cascade.

Ideas welcome please.....

Try the drain cycle if no joy Turn the washing machine off!

At the bottom of your machine should be a square or circle panal that pulls open.

If you open it you should find a hose - unfurtnatly they are not very long so get a couple of baking tins shallow but large and a bucket and a towel.

Put the towel on the floor and the bucket close by pull the knob off the hose and let it drain into your shallow bowl - swap bowles and pour one into the bucket etc until empty.

In that same pull off bit should be access to the filter once drained and machine switched off turn the lock till it opens and clear and crap out.

Thanks for replying.

Washing machine is off.

I do know about the mini door and drain / filter so I will have a go at that once the flow immediately above it eases a bit.
I always check pockets but on the VERY rare occasions that others have put clothes in machine, I have found money in the filter.

I'll let you know how I get on.

If it doesn't work later I might have to buy a new machine. :(
Being realistic it is getting on in years and probably uneconomic to call someone in.

Will try to sort it first though.

Mine leaked last year - I drained it and it has been fine since. Try a run on empty once sorted.

You would be suprised a freind of mine had a repair man outfor her machine - I thought better to buy a new one but she got it fixed for £75.00

Thank you all for adding.

Lol Gwynne
I like your remedy.

.....He just smiled when I told him what you said.
..........................
Only very slight seepage of water now so...
I've set the machine to WASH because at least the clothes will be clean then when machine empties.

.... Can't waste all that water.
We're on compulsory meters around here now.

Gwyn....off to watch machine for a bit.

Well, ...The things one has to do on a Saturday morning....

I managed to nurse the machine through the various cycles, got it to rinse and clothes are out on the line.

This was not all in one go.
In between I was on Seagull chick rescue mission.

One had come down off the roof into our garden but seemed OK and was strutting about.
Problem.....It had no feathers, was just a ball of fluff and if I left it for the parents to feed they would attack me if I went in the garden.
I phoned various people / societies for help, went in search of a Gull expert in Folkestone but eventually came home and sorted it myself.
A quick bundle into an old pillowcase, a swift trip indoors and upstairs, then I put it out of the skylight onto the sloping roof above me here, where they often peer at me on PC.
Mrs Seagull looked a bit surprised to see her offspring delivered back this way but they seem to be OK out there.

All makes for an eventful morning !

Glad Im not the only softie then,,,one of my rescues was a dirty old starling stuck at back of gas fire,,,it cost £55 to get put back, because taking fire out caused a small pipe leak,,!!

Kay

.. That was an expensive rescue.

How will this chick repay me?

By growing into a screeching adult who does unnmentionable things to our cars, windows and washing !
