What a beautiful place..........and such lovely people.......anyone else been?

Where abouts did you go Linda,Its about eight years since we last went.I always said it reminded me of Norfolk when I was growing up.

Co Mayo is best. Anyone disagree? (Probably!).

Yes I have been many times, well about 4 or 5! OH comes from Co. Wexford.

The people are very friendly over there. Will always say "good morning" to you whether they know you or not. lol

Glad you had a good time. The food is very good over there too.

In fact OH and I have considered moving over there.

my Dad's from there so slightly biased....my paternal grandparents are from Wicklow and Wexford and my maternal g grandparents were from Offaly.

We were in Killarney. Co. Kerry. Did all the usual trips

First day we were there we were trying to fnd a Euro for the parking machine and a young man in his 20's must have seen what we were doing and called 'Here, I've put the money in when the ticket comes out it's yours.'

Next day we went in a restaurant and there was only a table for two left and we were four. The man and woman just got up and moved tables for us.

Never seems to happen here. I loved it

OH's family are from Galway and Roscommon.

OH has just said Killarney, Co. Kerry is a very beautiful place and that he hopes one day to go and visit Killarney before we "snuff" it! LOL Even though he is from Ireland has only been there as a child and would like to go back as an adult.

Did you fly over or go by ferry?

Edit: Been to Galway for a family wedding many years ago. Was a great day. OH and I toured in the car making our way back down south to the ferry port.

Anybody been to Connamarra? That is very beautiful too. (I think).

Helen - I know a few Galway & Roscommon folk living in Devon. Come on down here - you'll have the best of both worlds.

Co. Limerick is also beautiful, My son and d,i.l. moved over there last week and i am looking forward to going to stay for 4 weeks in august. Len.

We flew. My friends husband was born in Castle Cove which is on the Ring of Kerry. We were sitting having a cream tea facing the beach in beautiful sunshine.
Also we went to the Gap of Dunloe and went on a boat on the lakes at Killarney. Such beautiful scenery.

My friends had not been for four years and were amazed how the price of eating out had gone up, Much more expensive than here. Basic sirloin steak, potatoes and vegetables was around 23 euros wherever you went.

I've only ever been to Co. Cork - but was the most fab place I've ever been. So beautiful and the people are so friendly.

Edit: Opps I forgot - went to Bantry Bay. If you ever get the chance to go there, do so, it really is the most perfect place on Earth (in my opinion lol)

It sounds wonderful Linda and makes me want to book up this minute. lol

Will remind myself to take plenty of pocket money!

(Actually I am secretly saving up for a special occasion and think I might just use the money to book a week away there, OH and I will celebrate our Silver wedding anniversary in 3 years time (its sounds a long way off but the years are just flying by) and this would be a wonderful place to visit by the sounds of it. OH is still waxing on about it. lol.

Hi Tina.............We went there to celebrate our 40th Wedding Anniversary..so we are a bit ahead of you..our best friends went with us and the one who was born at Castle Cove was our best man..so it was a lovely week

Linda G - Woolsery is a good choice. Don't forget to visit Clovelly (by the sea), not too far away.

Surfmonkey - Ballycastle, a smashing place up there in Antrim with the Giants Causway close by. Family lore said that my great-uncle ran 'The Londonderry Arms' in or near Ballymena, in the 1930/40s.
