I for one am very pleased about this. Having followed all the details the conviction was so unsafe in my view.

I must admit Sue that I thought the conviction was made on very little evidence....

Now that puts the onus back onto the police to reopen the case. If they state that they are not looking for anybody else that will be a travesty!

Why will it be a travesty, Sue...?

i agree there was definatly not enough evidence for a safe conviction

seemed to me that the main reason for his conviction in the first place was the fact that he was a bit of an oddball - nothing more - apparently there was a grain of forensic evdence found somewhere. What do the police do now I wonder - is there a trail to follow - doesn't look like it but then of course we don't know everything they know and never will I suppose

Eldrick,

Because that would be reaffirming that they had found the perpetrator, the fact that the conviction was overturned would not sway their belief.

I appreciate you may have a different view on this but speaking from a lay persons standpoint I believe they should reopen the case. I hope they do but I won't hold my breath...

I'd like to hear your view please

Well I for one am very pleased. I always had misgivings about this arrest and conviction.

Always seemed to me that as Ms Dando was so high profile the police were under tremendous pressure to arrest someone and as Mr George was a bit 'off base' they fitted the jigsaw around him.

I'm with you on this Sue... I do hope the police restart their investigations.

What concerns me is, and correct me if I am wrong, when Colin Stagg was released the police said they were not looking for anybody else. Later it was proven through missed DNA that somebody else was responsible for the murder of Rachel Nickell. That seemed like 'we know we had the right man so no matter what any court says we are sticking to our original conviction that he is guilty'

I hope this case does not prompt the same response.

Hope that makes sense.

I am glad I am not alone with my views :-))

Didn't ever think Barry George was guilty.

Surely the police will reopen the case, or didn't they use DNA evidence at the time??????????????

Makes you stop and think.

Just hope the perpetrator is found.
