My sister is having chemo for lung cancer last treatment on 3rd September, she has been very luck and not lost her hair, unfortunately she now has long grey roots and its not recommended to use a dye on her hair.

We are going on holiday 23rd September and she really would like to try and do something about it before we go, somebody mentioned that products are about that she would be able to use but when I googled it all seemed to come up about hair loss.

Would be really grateful if somebody could give some advise she is quite happy to leave it until a few days before we go away which is a few weeks after the chemo finishes.

Many thanks

Pam

I am not a hairdresser, but contact the chemotherapy people.
They would be ones to give an honest answer..Maybe chemo drugs will be out of her system by then.Good luck and happy hols.

I was a hairdresser, but I know nothing about this problem.
If she came to me, I would not touch her until we had word from an oncologist.
She could have a lovely holiday if she had her hair cut short and blow dried, couldn't she, or would that upset her?

Thanks Deanna, but she would be heart broken if she had to cut it short, think its going to be headbands and tied up for the week

Thanks for replying

Hi Pam,
Im not a hairdresser, but there are vegetable dye products available,
google vegetable hair dyes.

I would also add that she should ask her specialist before trying anything.
good luck

you can get henna shampoos in boots, but i not sure how they would affect her, shed have to check again,
maybe phone someone like loreal, theyd have expert there,
i used a henna shampoo once it was lovely on my hair smelled nice and gave it shine

im sure theres a problem with grey hair turned grey like this that it dont take to hair colours due to the pigment, and melolin in the hair

those hair bands that stretch like a bandana over top of head are nice,
popular abroad too
bless her
jhope she has lovely holiday, she needs the treat

I think probably the hairband idea is best, Pam, as even vegetable dyes may not be safe. My sister in law was forbidden to even shave her legs for a long time, after she had chemo. Hope she has a lovely holiday, she deserves it:-) BC XX

Have a look at the below link. It says once Chemotherapy is finished it is fine to colour the hair. Maybe try a Semi permanant one.

Camomile shampoo will lighten her hair and brighten the grey after several washes.

Hope you all have a great holiday.
