I contacted the school direct and was lucky enough to view the records of my grandfather's school. However have been told that other records I want to view of local schools are at the local records office.

Worth asking the local area RO/Archive Eddie if any have been deposited with them and if they are open to public searching,,,

If the school is still on going they may be still held there,?

I agree with Kay...the records you want may be closed to you.
We were hoping to find records for my father-in-law in 1920s, but because there are later additions in the book, it is closed until ( I forget how many ) years after the last entry.

Our school is 100 years old later this year. Some of the records (1908-1930's) at Kew were opened in 1968. The ones at our local archives are the original logbook which goes up to the 1940's and the addmissions records.
