Hiya,

If they were sent to prison, they will have had a trial. Check on the National Archives. I found a relatives trial/police file on there. I think its £8.50 for 10 pages and you can have them e-mailed to you. Just a word of warning, EVERYTHING (including photographs) is sent. So if the crime was of a particularly horrible/grissley nature, brace yourself otherwise you will be shocked.

Not sure Donal, maybe if you get in touch with Manchester Record Office Marshall Street Manchester they may be able to tell you. They might be a bit recent though and not able to be released.

Does anyone know if old prison records can be accessed ??. There is a suggestion that two family members were sent to jail in the 40's, 50's in the Manchester area. One for blackmarketing the other for some unknown minor crime circa 1960.
