Seeing people out of context :-)

A neighbor who lives a few houses down from us looks just like santa clause with long silver hair, beard, big stomach and a very dark tan all year round. Even during the winter months you can see him walking around in his "teeny weensy" costume. He keeps himself to himself and will give you a nod in recognition. On day we were in the shopping mall and this santa looking guy gives me a nod and I thought I knew him but could not place him. OH nodded back, so I whispered who was that and he whispered back "our neighbor wearing clothes"

Love the pulling rank for the wrong David!

Those dithery moments of half-recognition can be very annoying.

No celebrities but I was training liaison officer in my last job and even now I am for ever meeting people in town who say hello to me by name and I really struggle to remember their names.

I was at a golf function saturday evening and a lady was there whose face I know well and I STILL haven't remembered her name. she was with the rAF group so i guess she is an ex trainee of mine but her name still escapes me!! So frustrating.

I've met many famous people in my previous life. The funniest thing which I have just remembered is we had a booking in the name of David Essex.

As we quite often had celebrities stay with us who were appearing at the theatre we obviously all got excited with this one. It made a change from the comedians!!

I pulled rank and stuck myself on the late shift when he was due in, arranged the best room etc., and bu**er me when a very boring looking businessman checked in under that name I could hear the staff guffawing from 200 yards :-((

I wasn't the most pleasant of managers for the remainder of that shift!

It was even worse than that *blushes even more*

As we were hosting him and his wife.... we were also expected to get up and dance with them, lololol!!

Actually, he was very gallant, lol! By the end of the evening we were the best of mates and all embarrassment gone!!

I also used to work in Recruitment and lost count of the times "candidates" came and started chatting to me on my nights out and I would have no idea who they were!

:O)

Lol, Pink - reminds me of Pride where the police all get dragged aside for photos & smooches!

Sue - yeah that is odd. My mum's a retired teacher so she sees everyone as they were when they were five!

Our Regimental doctor... hubby had to host him at a posh do.

I had *that* examination the day before, and could have died with embarrassment, lol!!

No funny ones for me but...

I used to be the Functions Manager at a large hotel. Many times I saw my brides in town afterwards, obviously not wearing their wedding dresses, which was disconcerting.

With some I had to wrestle with my memory for the groom's name to ask how they were...lol

Now if they had been wearing their dresses I would have remembered straight away, strange init?

An ex boyfriend of mine joined the police and i remember seeing him in the street and my instant reaction was to hug him and kiss both his cheeks.... His Sargeant who was with him, thought it was hilarious when I realised I'd just publicly kissed a Policeman in uniform who was working!!

I was so embarrassed!!

;o)

Recently I went to a 10cc gig and had hysterics because I saw someone out of context.

It was my old GP who was always really cool anyway but it was somehow hilarious to see him dancing, snogging his wife & getting sloshed.

Reminded me of when I saw a copper in uniform scratching his bum when he thought no-one could see him.

And the third person out of context is a sketch of Buffalo Bill I found under the wallpaper in my bathroom!

Got any people out of context stories?

:-)))
