Hello Linda and Eileen,

Thank you both for letting Mavis know what a PM is.

I've been out all afternoon, so have only just seen Mavis's message.

Regards,

Sallie.

PM stands for 'private message' - click on the person's name, and you can have a 'conversation' with them that will not appear on the open board.
It's useful for continuing giving and receiving information, particularly when we do not post the names of living people who might be upset by their name appearing, or may no nothing about an adopted child born previously to their parent.
Eileen
birth name
born 1944
adopted 1945
Happily now reunited with my last unfound sibling - my full sister adopted separately. Thanks to the Government Adoption Contact Register

Hello Mavis and Dutch,

I have just spoken to Ceri, and she has asked if you could please, send her a PM, with your information.

If anyone else is interested in finding any information on adoption, could you please contact her the same way.

Thank you.
Good Luck.

Sallie.

In 2005 the Law changed in England and Wales giving Birth Relatives the right to request an Intermediary Service to trace and contact your adopted relative.

The courts and the Registrar General now have to give all the information relating to the Adoption to the Intermediary Agency (eg New Name after adoption etc.

The Intermediary acts as a 3rd party and will trace the Adopted adult and ask them if they would like contact with their Birth Family.

Either contact your Local Authority or myself and we will be able to help you find an Intermediary Service in your area.

Kind Regards
