Family tree not so bad......but the rest reminds me of the benefit forms.....have now put main light out...desk lamp on slightly better....still don't like the decor very drab and uninviting...not the place to spend any length of time no more...soooooooo sad.....shame members can't brighten it up a bit...after all said 'n' done it is us who make this site what it is !!!!????

I've got difficulty reading also, too much similar colour my eyes are watering from strain trying to read. The flashing ads drive me crazy. If I try to copy onto a B&W printer the letters are very faint, need to be dark for copying and faxing. letters are too small, colour is too similar, each posting seems to run into the next one, not spaced well enough or the heading isn't well enough defined. I wear tri-focals and usually manage well on the computer or with written work. This is upsetting, I'm wishing my sub didn't have 13 months to go, won't use this much. I'm concerned also for some people, for whom some of the threads are a lifeline, if they aren't clear and easy to read will that thread be cut from their regular use?

I have also sent a message to GR as I am finding it difficult to read the print and have a headache with it.
I am all for progress but this is quite literally making me feel sick.

I too, have varifocals and find that although only been on here a short time am squinting to read the page - not good at all. Everything to one side the cellit ad jumping around - at the moment very doubtful if I shall renew in January.

I'm just off to bed, and thought I'd let you know the screen is much better at night with the curtains closed and the light on. also I've now increased the print size so am no longer constantly being reminded that I should be doing the housework!

Just signed in.....omg !!!! have we got christmas elves at work here or what !!!!???

Did GR put up a warning of changes ??? if they did I missed it lol !!

Not too sure about this, they say if it ain't broke don't fix it !!!??
Decor a bit naff....not keen on the flock wallpaper.....as it's Christmas a tree, a few lights perhaps make it a little more cheery ???

Not very good on the eyes...... I know should have gone to spec savers lol !!! I did waste of time !!

This is the worst site I have ever come across, and sooooo slow! Not worth paying for in my opinion.

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 10 Dec 2008 19:50

I have just switched on to the site (I live in Canada), and am horrified by the changes!!!

I have sent them an email through Contact Us (down at the bottom of the page)

..... I suggest that everyone who doesn't like these changes also contacts GR and lets them know what we think.

There is no point in just complaining on the boards, because they don't read the boards!!!

As far as the flashing ads are concerned:---

Go into your security system and click on Ad Blocker

I have Norton, and the sequence is

Norton Internet
Norton Antispam
Status and Settings
Ad Blocker ......... make sure you click ON
Pop Up Blocker ....... click ON

I have these on all the time, and I never see the ads that everyone complains about!!

Thank you for the tip on making the text bigger, but the colours still cause eye strain and having it all over on the right is very annoying
If you are using Firefox as your browser choose Adblock Plus from the optional add ons and you won't see any ads

I have just emailed support to say that I am going to have to let my membership lapse. The screen is triggering migraines for me.

Hopefully Santa will send me an Ancestry membership.

I had to close down this morning as I couldn't stand it any more, trying to read the small pale green print hurt my eyes and gave me a headache. I have just come back on and they have changed it, printing is black and bigger now.
I don't like my tree layout at all, I used to be able to see parents with all their children, now it is an effort moving sideways each time, I won't bother. Why is the details bit crammed in at the bottom, my mouse will be worn out at this rate.

What on earth is going on. Even on South Africa site I'm getting the flashing ads. I'm using Mozilla Firefox and the font size can't be made bigger as I've tried. I'm squinting as I'm writing this with my varifocals on too.
Any ideas as to how to stop the flashing ads gratefully received.
Is this a ploy by GR to stop us posting once we've paid our subs?

It's the huge expanse of white on the left combined with the lopsided thread... The black on mid-gray is really causing me a lot of eye pain.

I think the chances of getting GR to allow us the ability to change the colour scheme are slim to non-existent since they can't even give us simple html capabilities such as bolding or italics.
