I think they have tweaked the colours and size of text. still feel lopsided reading though.

Has GR changed the text and background colours in the last few hours? I have just swapped my computer monitor and am finding I can actually read the text on the GR site much better now. The text is now displaying as dark greeny black against a pale green background - subtle but much better contrast-wise. I suppose it might just be my new 2nd hand monitor!

I too have varifocals and find it harder to concentrate when it is over to the right so much. Mine is grey green background and greenish print.

Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 10 Dec 2008 15:24

I have only just come on here and found the changes which I don't like with everything over to one side, feel I have to move my chair now which is difficult with the desk we have.
I use varifocals and can't see things easily now, also have the whopping great ad at the side which is very distracting.

I have also had three messages from people telling me they are sharing their tree with me and I know they have no connection with me, two are folk I usually pm for various reasons and the other I don't recognise the name at all!

Definitely not happy, I know my name is Purple but the colour jumps out at me too much on here!

Just knew these problems would come up, if it ain't broke why try and fix it. Use the time and money to sort out other problems that we have mentioned before.

I have the same as you blue eyes and it really is quite pleasant and easily read, just the page jumps a bit now and again.

Mine is light green on a light greyish background with a lot of glary white surrounding. It is so glary it makes my eyes hurt.
I am using Internet Explorer. Genesreunited AU (Australia)
Just had a thought unusuall for me lol.
In MSN you used to be able to change your colour scheme yourself
Maybe that would be a suggestion to put to Genes team having a Colour Scheme Button somewhere on the site. For people who are impaired

The contrast is ever so slightly better defined in Firefox. All the capital Ns in my tree still look like two I s though.

I can't read these pages without great difficulty.

I have emailed GR, please do the same if you are also experiencing visual difficulties.

I have pale green lettering on a grey-green background with sludge and grey-green boxes. This is viewed on a Windows XP machine using IE6. I'm off to check it out on Firefox, maybe it will be legible in a different browser!

Black on pale blue sounds OK - maybe we don't all have the same scheme??

The site upgrade has effectively rendered it a no go area for people with visual impairment issues, eg-colourblindness, problems with distinguishing contrast, etc.

I almost wonder whether it is now in breach of disability access laws? Can anyone in the know please comment whether this is so?

I have reasonably good eyesight yet even I am struggling to make out the text from the background. And the layout and colour scheme is simply dreadful and Sooooo depressing and unfriendly. Where do they find these designers???
