Morning All,

Damp and miserable here this morning......and that's just me I'm talking about :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

Cath,
John died on the eve of the anniversary of the death of his son Paul. He was killed two years ago. He has another son Kieran, a daughter Hayley and a step-daughter Jessica.
Obviously the whole family are devastated.
His twin brother, Billy, is taking it particularly hard.

About to start fixing my plumbing leak.

Keep safe, keep happy, keep smiling

:-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

Morning everyone,
OH is a plumber, shall I send him down the cyber hatch? :-D

Stephen it was sad to read of the death of John McAleese. The government should definitely bring him home for his family, its the least they can do for a man who I believe also lost his son in Afghanistan.

Looks like its going to be another lovely day here, already sunny and quite warm. No work today but the weekly shop with mum :-( I must remain calm. Don't want the blood pressure going any higher.

Hope all our friendlies are well,

Cath xx

Hello, Hello, Hello,

Must be a day for plumbing nightmares.

A pipe in my Central Heating system has sprung a bad leak. Managed to isolate the pipe and prevent any water damage.

A wee job for tomorrow.

About to watch a programme on 9/11. Hardly seems that ten years have passed since it happened.

Reduction in the Armed Forces.......Is nothing sacred ?

Heard today that John McAleese an SAS fellow who was one of the Team that stormed the Iranian Embassy after PC Yvonne Fletcher was Murdered has died in Greece, He was 62. The family are at a loss as to how to get his body back, it will cost £20,000.

Perhaps with the saving the Government will make in reducing the Armed Forces they might make a goodwill gesture and repatriate his body.

John and I lived near each other when we were young.

May he rest in Peace.

Rita Report 1 Sep 2011 19:31

well enjoy your evening Stephen and dont get a sore head with all that drink lol.
I am going to tell the Newsagent what they can do with their books tomorrow. I dont like to be blackmailed, thats how I feel.

I am also fumming at the Government getting rid of the servicemen and women. they had the cheek to say they wont be getting rid of the ones in
Afganistan I should hope not. , there out there fighting for someone else because of the Government
They want to get rid of some of the top brass first.. we will soon have nothing maybe they have the idea of us joining forces with the French.

I suppose because they are so young they have no idea what is what with the forces never having lived through a war.
sorry but I am angry about it.

I am going to watch some Tv now and do my crossword puzzel.

Evening again everyone !

Pauline....blocked drains.....what you need is a wee man 2 inches tall with a shovel. ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

George...decorating....hope you leave strict instruction as to what you want.
You might come back to a Polka Dot lounge if you don't

Rita, that Newsagent can't be needing the business if they wont deliver a few magazines.

Had my tea, fairly early tonight, now about to put my feet up for an hour or two. A glass of Irn-Bru might just be in order.

Catch you later.

Oh what a difference a little sun makes.
Got the washing out and dry.
Shopped and ordered the bedroom carpet. It will be fitted next week too.
Cleared more than half a huge fitted wardrobe in said bedroom. Got rid of a load of paperwork, but loads more to check and shread.
Will do some ironing before hubby returns around midnight, before I turn into a pumpkin !!!
Started another little hat too, last night.
Lets hope for another nice day tomorrow as my daughter is coming at lunchtime to take her dog for a walk again.

Enjoy your evening all

Linda :-) <3

Afternoon All,

Pauline, If all of your sinks are blocked then go outside and lift the inspection cover to the drains, you may have a blockage there, or see if your main soil pipe has an inspection plate.
If it has, take it off and shove a hosepipe down it and turn the tap on, that might clear it.
Do you ever clean the P traps under your sinks, they often get lots of muck build up in them.

Evening DameShelly, Stephen, RitaMowtownGal, Cath2010, MO, Agatha and PatricaAnn, hope I haven't missed anyone.

I managed, with help to clean my cottage from top to bottom today, job well done, and while I am on my holiday I am having some decorating done for me :-) :-) :-) :-) I am well happy. LOL.

where have all my friends gone long time no see or hear
I seem to be the only one on here just shows you who has nothing to do all day ME me me .

My Neice Susannah is 12 years old today, and the family have gone to Frome in Somerset for three days. I told her I wanted her to take some photos while she was there. as my Great Great Great Grandparents on my Mothers side had a shop there ( for ever , they died in their 90's ) and not far from there is the ancestors nests where they were born grew up and married . so I am hoping she take some photos of WELLS as well., her and her brother love taking photos.

I keep scrolling through Shellys graves thread hoping someone has gone to the grave yard there as there are loads of Horwoods buried there loads of babies as well.which is very sad. I have a big list of those that died.

I have had one of those mornings. plan to do things and none worked out.

first stop the doctors to make my warfarin appointment for 29th September ( you have to book early )
sorry Rita the pages only go up to 15th of this month. your have to try later in the week and see otherwise need to do it when you come back off your holidays. ?

I would like to make my appointment for my yearly check up which keep appearing on my Repeat perscription. for 19th September .
sorry cannot do that wait till you come back and phone and we will see what we can do. ?( Charmling )

Next stop Newagents ( last week I thought I would order my books to be deleivered each week instead of having to go out and collect them as sometimes when the weather is bad I dont get them )
They said they would start this week. well I didnt get my TV times and today I didnt get my "Chat " and Take a Break " so I called in and brought them over the counter.
. I asked why they had not been deleivered ? it was girl I had not seen before. she checked and said your names on here but there is no tick at the side she said I know what it is you have to have a newspaper as well. ? I told her I dont have them, if I want a special I buy it.
well they will not send it if I dont.
so I said I will have one sun newpaper on a Tuesday .(that was the cheapest one I could think of) but it has got me thinking thats blackmail the guy comes to all the flats in my block three everyday so what different does it make . he has to come here.
I am going to twll them not to bother tomorrow I will collect it.

I am so angry about it.

off my orange box now.

Morning all.

We don't have the sun, it's still dark and dull............. but dry.

I didn't see WDYTYA, Rita, haven't seen very many of them.

Cath, I'm still having problems with the site as well, keep having to use the nz instead of uk........ everything seems fine on there.

Don't think I've ever bought 60 of anything Pat, but I do get carried away when I see a bargain.

Had to laugh at Agatha's grandfather having a wooden gun. If we had a home guard now they'd probably be given wooden guns as well............ the country's got no money.

Maddie, the Art Deco cinema was the Paramount Theater, it used to be the Odeon but it closed down years ago. Don't know what's going on with it now though.
Most of Monkwearmouth has been pulled down and rebuilt but some of the old street names are still there so you might be able to find where the houses were.
The pub in the cave is called The Grotto (Marsden Grotto). I haven't been in there since I was 18. I remember it was hard work climbing up all those steps after having a bit too much to drink. Only the wimps used the lift.... :-)
At Seaburn and Roker you can always tell who are visitors to the area............. the ones wearing coats!

Stephen, you're a handy man - can you tell me the best thing to get to unblock a drain? I've blocked the kitchen sink up and the blockage must be in the drain now because the other sinks all seem to be blocked now as well.

Morning everyone.
did any of you look at WDYTYA last night Larry Lamb I found it was very interesting and for him to find his mother a brother and they didnt know they exsisted was a real tear jerker.
well to think to day is a pinch punch first of the month day. so hope we all have a good September.?

I am not sure if you know this ? but my friend who lives on this estate emailed me last night, to tell me that www.Ancestrry.com(US version ) had got a free viewing of immigration and shipping records for one week. only she found some of her ancestors on it yesterday.
well time for another cup of tea before my shower.

Morning all,
I've been having problems getting in again :-0 Some crazy things happening on here with error messages etc. I tried to change my research interests and it won't let me and also has changed to "I'm an experienced historian", lol. I'm definitely not.
Stephen welcome back from your travels, we missed you. ;-)
Went for a check up on Tuesday, my blood pressure is up a bit, I've gained 8lbs and lost half an inch in height :-( :-( :-( :-( Dear me I should have stayed at home. I wasn't surprised about the weight gain as my knee has been bad lately and I can't walk as far or as fast as I want to.
Diet for me when I get back off my hols next month.
Will catch up on all the news later, Jean thinking of you and hope you are coping with your treatment <3
Off to work soon,

Cath xx

Lewis was quite good.

One of the lads in my office has his hair cut by his Mum. She makes a good job of it.

Stephen I think you like being busy anyway :-)

Pauline, I don't expect to get any rush either. i had to laugh about your toothbrushes. Once I got 60 pencils because they were cheap.I haven't been to the shop that sells things for a 100pence for ages. I think I threw those pencils out after about 5 years or so!
