Angela - I'm in a similar position. I've tried and tried but with a name like Carl Johansen, it's pretty difficult - every man and his dog seems to have the same name!!

Good luck with yours!

Hi Angela,

You're not sad at all!

We sent my parents over for a long weekend last year for their 50th wedding anniversary. Mum hadn't been back there since the late 1940's. Unfortunately they didn't get the chance to go digging for old family members as Dad wasn't in the best of health (unknown to us at the time, he had cancer) so they spent their time enjoying the sights etc. Also unfortunately, Mum had her purse stolen whilst shopping, so that put a bit of a dampener on things at the end.

They did manage to enjoy the rest of their trip though, and it's somewhere I'd like to go visit myself, to see the places my Mum spent her childhood. Maybe one day, I hope we both get the chance to go!

Take care & my very best wishes
Heidi

You could try asking for help on the genforumgenealogy.com website. Scroll down to the countries and find Denmark.
Or you could try the rootsweb message boards, again by going to Denmark on the country board.

If you try
www.ddd.dda.dk/ddd_en.htm you should find the records you are after.

I had some luck with the parish records on there, its in danish, but I got a list of the words and phrases I would need to be looking for.

You will find you have to scroll thru each entry as there is no index

Good luck . . let me know if I can help

cheers . . Laurie
