Sorry to butt in, but, the top of your mouse should slide off to put your batteries in. It MUSThave batteries to work!! There may be a tiny button underneath that you have to move to unlock the top of the mouse. Hope this helps (if you haven't already consigned it to the bin!!)

The Control panel will have an icon that says "Mouse".

But unless you've been into that and changed a setting, nothing should have suddenly altered.

Vicky, it must be a wireless mouse then..
with a red light underneath?
just a shot in the dark but have you changed the surface the mouse moves on? ie mousemat?
we have a bluey sky type picture on one of ours, and its absolutely useless......mouse cursor jerks.. wont move. all sorts........

as Brian suggests a visit to " Settings" might help....

HI BRIAN. MY MOUSE DIDN'T HAVE A BALL. IT JUST CONKED OUT AT THE WEEKEND

THE CURSOR WON'T STOP JUMPING AROUND THE PAGE

BrianW Report 17 Mar 2009 14:49

What type of mouse is it?
If a ball then try removing the ball and cleaning the rollers as they pick up fluff. Just scrape them with anything to hand.

Another thing might be the acceleration setting in the Control Panel.
