why do i keep smelling my mums purfume even though shes been dead 10 years and its not one I ever use. We have a small church which is closed and several times when I have looked through the windows I've smelt this purfume. Theres never any one else around.!

Its nice to know Its not just me! I'm not named after a perfume! My dog is black and she is called Rosie.I called her Rosie because all the wild Roses were out in the hedges near us when we brought her home.

It's because she is still with you she is letting you know

I agree tis because she is with you.

Strange, I had the smell of aftershave or something similar last night ... I know the smell, just can't place it. xxx

I often smell my Grandads pip tobacco, he mixed his own so it had a distinctive smell. I am happy as I feel he is close and keeping an eye on us. He passed away 17 years ago.

Just because she loves you and you love her.

What a beautiful thought that loved ones are with us always, sometimes it is a scent, sometimes a visual sign, I have seen a cat appear when most in need of some spiritual guidance, but have aslways known it would not be my pet cats but some other cat I would see unexpectedly...

Yes I think about her everyday and the perfume smells always happen when I'm on my own so its nice to think that mum is still around. Weve had a lot of difficult and testing times aswell as some highs and I suppose I've often wished she was there just so that I could talk things through.

I've been thinking about this a lot recently. I posted this thread 20th March and then had my stroke in the early hours of the 2nd April when I was on my own and now I'm at home recovering but fragile I've had several occurrances of the smell of mums perfume. Is she just saying shes there for me or am I being silly.

dad was a game keeper and i often smell gun oil even though it is 8years since he died.
this is quite a distinctive smell not like perfume or tobacco smoke.
i just say to mum 'dads' here' and she just says 'good'.
we find it very comforting to think that he visits.

oh thats lovely madammorg - I've just been for an MRI scan, abit claustophobiac and noisy and they put headphones on for you to listen to radio and by some coincidence or something Gloria Gaynor I will survive came on. Maybe this was my mum as well

Funny thing about perfume.

I left my scarf at my sons house a while back, and had not noticed it missing,
Until my daughter-in-law mentioned it on the phone, she said my son keeps smelling it cause it reminded him of me, now he wont part with it !!

He is 41yrs !!

Oh Bless .....Him. not really a mummy's boy !
