Hi Rosalyn, our Credit Unions are much the same as yours,also if you borrow and unfortunaly were to die before you have the loan paid back, the loan dies with you, but your savings are paid to whoever is your next of kin or whoever you say you want to leave it to, the only thing is that you cannot put it into an orfinary will, it has to be in a form which stays with the Credit Union and the Government now also takes D.I.R.T. Tax out once a year also.

just opened an account this am -took money out of an account that was only paying 0.25 % .The last pay out in Credit Union dividend was 5.5 %

They have one at tiddlers school that is open once a week so they can all trundle along in the morning before school with their money and get their passbooks filled in, I just keep forgetting to take hers along.

the minimum is £2 a week , neither do I have spare cash,but shifting what`s saved for daughter`s wedding to get more interest

Credit Unions are verycommon here in Ireland.

I havean account with them and a loan. They are far more flexible with interest rates and last years dividend was a welcome surprise!

Now all my kids have accounts with our local one and they are great for continung relationships. Now the girls have been regularly saving with them they could prob get a mortgage if they wanted. They encourage regular saving to build up a trust between both parties!
