Grandson who is 2yrs old in May had chicken pox nearly 2 weeks ago. He had about 20 spots on his face and myself and Vic took him to the docs to have it confirmed. The spots had all gone last Tuesday apart from one or two very very faint marks.........WELLLLL this morning he is covered in them and they are in Blackpool celebrating his other nannies 65th birthday. He'll now have to be kept away from everyone again.
Is this the norm to have spots appear again like that ??
Poor little man:o((

PS...l'm going out now, so will look back in later.

Sounds like it didn't develop as quickly as normal poor little chap. Hope he is OK. He should be kept apart from anyone likely to be pregnant.

Poor little chap.

If this is again Chicken pox, he will have been infectious in the recent week, so isolation from people contacted in that time might be unnecessary.
Are the new spots definitely the same?
I have known allergies and other conditions to give similar symptoms.

My son had Chicken Pox twice, the first time very badly as a baby, the second a few years later.

Back again.....
thanks for the replies.....he was diagnosed the first time 2 weeks ago and his mum says the spots definately have blisters on, so assuming its chicken pox.
We were told to keep him away from public places as the germ is airborn!! and it can effect cancer treatment patients and people taking steroids aswell as pregnant mums and the elderly, which is what they are doing again, this also means no nursey again for another 2 weeks, which is fine but his other nanny is knackered already. We've been down once aweek and staying over to help out.

It just seems so quick to come back. Will look it up on google now l'm home:o)

Edit......Ohhh sorry PrincessShimmy....hello to you too. l think we may said hello once before:o))) jude :o) x

Better the spots have come out so hope now he will start recovering and that he hasn't started an epidemic in the family.
If he is really itching, I think I remember reading that a tepid bath with a cloth bag of oatmeal held under the tap helps ease the irritation. You can use a j cloth or something and tie it up with the oatmeal in, then let the water run through it. don't drop it in the bath tho or he will be bathing in porridge.

Thanks Liz, not heard of that one before.

He has a number of creams and medicines from the first lot appearing. Some docs don't use calamine lotion anymore so he has the new one and calamine.
Just phoned his other Nanny and he's absolutely covered, getting very tetchy and itchy, is covered in creams and very tired, bless him!!

Poor thing bless him.
Might be worth seeing if piriton or another anti histamine (sp?) or something similar might help with the itchiness,

Poor little Lad,
When Adrew was five we went on Holiday in Spain and had a day trip to Gibraltar where I used to live, the evening before he was really naughty and bad tempered then on the wasy to Gib he started coming out in spots and I realised it was chicken Pox nothing we could do except get some calpol from the chemist in Gib then when the trip had ended get back on the coach with all the nice holiday makers and go back to our hotel, where incidentally Andrew had spent the last ten days in the Kids club and in the pool, we went round apologising and most people where nice about it saying it could not be helped but some where really of with us. He was absolutely covered by the next day.
Luckily it was so hot the spots dried up very quickly, when he went back to school we found out virtually the whole class had been of with them and they all looked pale excet for Andrew who was nice and brown with lots of white dots.
Jude I live near Blackpool.

Years ago, we had to take our kids back to UK on a cross-channel ferry after a posting in Germany had come to an end. The kids were both smothered in chicken pox, but we had no choice but to smuggle them away in a private berth, away from other passengers! Oops.

Hello Pat & Meriwether:o)

The things we do, its the same this last weekend with M, they had to keep him away from everyone . As a child my mum wanted me to mix with others that had it, l think l did the same with mine.
Its so strange that M had them twice, but l suppose they had'nt come out properly the first time (l think someone said that further down the page!).
We won't be seeing him now till 16th April when we have our next day out session with him:o))) can't wait:o)

Pat - you live nearish to Birmingham don't you,l remember you saying something ages ago.

Update on little M my grandson.........
we were in Birmingham last Thursday - Fri and took him to a nature park.On Thursday he looked quite pale and had a nasty spot on his chin, not a pox spot, which was quite sore looking. He's still very sensative and cries and gets in a paddy The scabs are nearly cleaned up. On the Fri we took him to the nature park and had a lovely time, but gradually the spot on chin (which looked so much better in the morning) was now getting sore again, he fell asleep and l noticed his hair was stuck round his ear, whenl looked closer he had an earfull of muck,l phoned his dad to make a docs appointment which was made for 6pm, this was now 3pm and we were on way home.....he started to wake up, very hot and very lethargic/floppy so l suggested to Vic we went straight to the docs!!!!.....so pleased we did, he's now on antibiotics and calpol the usual, but ooo he did have me worried. Usually when he wakes he's very unhappy, cries and waves his arms about, just not good at that time......but to be so quiet and floppy was not right. l've ring everyday since and he's well on the mend now, thank goodness:o))
