On 3rd March OH took our petrol lawn mower in for repair, He wrote out various things that needed doing, and said it needed a new fuel tank, as the old one was leaking. They said will phone you when ready.
OH phoned them as no one had phoned., they said waiting for fuel tank.
Yesterday OH phoned again, they had lost the job card, and our phone number so they said. Anyway said it was ready to collect.
We collected, and guess what - jobs had been done, but when we got it home, and OH put petrol in, leaking. They had not put a new fuel tank on it. So phoned again, they said bring it back, so off he went back again. They had to fit this tank straight away, while he waited.

And on looking at the slip of paper on the mower, it had our phone number on, mind boggles.

Why oh why is it that these days nothing seems to be done properly first go? OH is in his 70's and had to lug the mower in and out of the boot of the car. good job he is pretty fit.

It is very sad that the country is in this state.

The problem started about ten years ago when many companies thought they could save huge amounts of money getting rid of what they saw as expensive time served yet experienced staff who had worn more tee-shirts that they had ever thrown away.

They were all replaced with call centre morons on little more than the minimum wage, and with no experience whatsoever, other than what the computer told them. Most of these computer systems were woefully inadequate, which didn't help either.

A year ago I had four phone calls with a call centre to get my credit card re-activated. None were sucessful as the idiots (sorry, account executives) at the other end didn't understand the problem.

Eventually, in deperation I emailed the Head Office and low and behold, had a response from a 'proper' manager who sorted it out in seconds.
