The MPC is due to announce any change to the current 0.5% bank rate at 12.00. No change is expected.

For anyone relying on savings the current rates are a disaster: on the majority of savings accounts you get 0.1% which means that you have to invest £1,000 to get £1 a year interest : Before Tax !

It's not worth the shoe leather to pay in: better to keep it under the mattress.

There are still some ISAs paying a bit more interest.

Yes there are ISAs, but what you can put in is limited.

I am trying to invest the proceeds of MIL's house to get income for her to live on: 15 months ago the Halifax online saver was paying 5%, now it's 0.1%.

If you're investing a couple of hunded grand that makes one heck of a difference!

I've got over £300,000 on deposit at work which is now earning less than £30 a month.

Not long ago it was earning nearly £1,000 a month.

But if you want a loan the rate hasn't come down at all.

The banks must be really coining it.

credit union 1 % guaranteed this year `s interest-the Glasgow branch that I`m in but they all vary , no fat cats get the interest
