Her safety was the most important thing and she was at risk in a strange town with no money.

Yes, you were right and she was lucky it was you. Many would be very wary of going along with a young girl for fear of what they would be accused of. Terrible world we live in. Hope she got home safely in the end.

Last night after travelling home by train from work at 10.30pm I left the deserted station and was approached by a young girl who asked me if i could help her, she explained that she had come to my town earlier in the day after rowing with her Mum - she now wanted to travel home but did not have the fare for the train.
With the ticket office closed and only having a £20 note buying her a ticket was not an option.
She then asked if she could come home with me!
I replied no and asked her age....She was 14 years old.
I decided the best course of action was to take her to the local police station which I did and she walked quite happily with me through the deserted streets to the station.....The mind boggles as to what could have happened to that young lady and to the mentality of the parents who obviously dont instill into their youngsters the dangers that are out there on the streets
