Tea Agent

I suspect that a "Tea Agent" was engaged in importing tea and selling it on. Even in 1901 tea was more of value than to day and much less available to all.

It could be someone like a grocer, I suppose, who specialised in selling tea. I wonder if they meant it in the same way as we would use "news agent" now - a person you went to, to buy your newspapers (or in her case, tea).

I wonder if anyone can help a newbie please? Whilst doing some research in the 1901 census, I found that my Great Grandmother had the proffession of "Tea Agent". I found this intriging because she was also listed as self employed. Any one know what a Tea Agent was or what they did?
