One summer I was revising in the garden, lying on a duvet on the path.A small bee or wasp would not leave me alone and was annoying me a bit. |

Well talk of the devil, I have just seen a hover fly outside the window, this sunshine must have brought them up from underground. |

We get some of the types of solitary bees in our garden. Sometimes we have leaf cutter bees which like to put their eggs wrapped in leaves in short pieces of cane we hang in our greenhouse. I like following them and watching them cut out circles from rose leaves. |

Hi Yorkshire Pud, there are some 25 native species of the bumble bees in Britian & Ireland. As Budgie & Carol have already said, some of these nest underground. |

hi Ann, its a mud path by the side of my fence. we are plagued by ants but these holes were too big and i thought i saw lots of young bees hovering around, because their backs were orange. |

Not sure Pud!, sorry put the wrong name down Tsk! I suggest googling and see. I only know I have those in my garden lawn, they are harmless but annoying. Apparently they eat larvae and are good to have in the garden! I would prefer it if they went somewhere else! lol |
