Hi there.... I found an entry on the LDS site familysearch.org and it gives very little information and I am a bit confused.

Apart from the names (marriage) it has no date, place info etc. Just a compact disc number and a pin number.

Does this mean I cannot get further information? Will contacting the submitter offer any other info or not?

Thanks in advance for your help
Yvonne

Yvonne, what was the name you were researching, have you tried another site to look for the same info?

It means that someone has uploaded their tree to Family Search and it is quoting the disc nos they did it on. Submitted entries should be viewed with caution as they may not be correct or backed up with actual parish records. You could try contacting the submitter but you may not get any reply.

Thanks for your reply Tina.... yes I found some detail on other sites but I was unsure how the LDS site worked so was throwing the question out there if I would get further information other than that on show. I am kinda new at this and you get conflicting advice on where to look and just how much you can find when you get there.

If it is only info someone has added from their family tree I guess it's much the same as here then. Like here it's hit or miss if you can glean any further assistance from the person entering it dependant on what info they have at hand.

Thanks for the help :-)

btw can anyone tell me why so many people post a reply to your message then delete it after a few days? I have noticed this a bit and am confused.
