Yes I too have LP's. Very eclectic they are. But my favourites are what my neighbour gave me which were her sons - he said he did not want them anymore - Marc Bolam and T.Rex originals on the Fly label - think they are worth something now.

Have got a collection of Cliff Richard (as I used to swoon over him when younger) lol. A couple of Diana Ross and the Surpremes oh and I think The Carpenters.

LaGooner - I think peeps would be surprised at possible how much their old vinyls are worth. Especially as the youngsters of today like retro.

We've just freecycled all our LPs to make space in the loft. Some of them have been replaced with CDS. Not the same are they to the LPS? My favourites were heavy rock ones. I had Whitesnake, Def Leppard, Van Halen for example. I loved them. But I've replaced them with CDS.

I also used to have music tapes too. Unfortunately most faded with time..but again I replaced theses with CDS. I used to have Darts , The Dooleys, Abba. My favourite tape was Fleetwood mac Tango in the Night.

I still have some 45s and lots of 78s for those who know what 45s and 78s are. Some of the 78s are extremely old, childrens ones from when I was a little girl. Nobody would call me little now :((
Some of the 78s my parents bought when they bought their first wind-up gramophone about 1925. Unfortunately the spring in it broke so it has been ditched but I still have some of their early records (not vinyl).

Excellent thread this R.B.

Hi Helen

Its amazing what we have collecting dust in our spare rooms/attics lol

Huia - I do vaguely remember the 78's. I was fostered for a short time with a family whose father had an old grammaphone player with a huge amount of 78's, one of them was the Laughing Policeman, which made all us children chuckle.

My old record player used to cater for 78rpm, it was fun putting the 33rpms on 78 - sounded like Micky Mouse. LOL

Looking at the musicstack site am I right in thinking they just sell-not buy ?

What they sell for may not be what they pay you-like all dealers !!

Yes I still have a very precious LP (Blimey that ages me!) that a boyfriend bought me in 1971...it's 'Highway' by Free, on the Island record label. Still love it to bits...the great voice of Paul Rodgers on lead vocals, he is still as brilliant!

Pam.

PS. I have a few others of other artists and also of Free and Bad Company, but there not in such good condition.

Brill thread

I still have singles and LP's I bought as a teenager with pocketmoney and I did an early morning paper round 7 days a week all year round.

Most LP's are Cat Stevens, Monkees, David Cassidy... OMG. MY sister had T Rex and Deep Purple.

I have so many records.
I could not tell you just now what they are,
They are in a box on the shelf above my head ....
I don't even have a record player anymore, BUT.... I just cannot get rid of them.
All those memories.

*they took the whole Indian Nation.....
They put them on a re.e..serv..ation....
Took away their way of life....
Tomahawk and the Bowie knife.....**

Oh I loved that, and cannot even remember who sang it. ;-0)

Hi Deanna, sounds like Cherokee Nation sung by Don Fardon, remember that one too!

Pam.

PS. Just a thought, you could probably see it on You Tube.
