Any cures as these are driving me mad (46years old) doctor suggest just the change and it will pass but mum suffered for around 10 years and I will never cope with that as I am not sleeping, always tired and no energy to do all my usual hobbies etc.I can wake around a dozen times durng the night and drink plenty of water but forever changing bedding and nightwear as the sweats are so bad.Doctor ruled out any thing more serious and says the usual your age.
I did work with woman going through the change and family members talked about it but I do not think I really though about what they were going through and wish now I had given them more support, This is when I miss my mum most as she died 22nd April last year and she always had some sort of solution or support or would say something to make me laught and remember others go through a lot worse than me.

All remedies or advise appreciated.

Hi Debra
Yes the diet rich in Soya does help . Try Soya milk on your cereal,
And also from Holland + Barrett AGNUS CASTUS, balances hormones, or SOYA ISOFLAVONES mimics oestrogen.
SAGE TEA is supposed to stop hot flushes, you can also buy Sage Tablets. Out of all my friends ,the ones that suffer least ,are the ones that are vegetarian. The way they produce HRT is not very nice , if it has the prefix PREM. it is from pregnant mare's urine, I have read that the horses are kept pregnant just for this reason, + they just get rid of the foals.
Best to go the natural route.

I have to admit to not having hot flushes but cold. I also am constantly watching what I eat, being overweight, so am surprised I dont suffer from hot flushes. The main is I cut out salt. I even have a half fat low salt spread. I eat fresh food, not processed most of the time. Whether this has anything to do with it or I am just lucky I dont get sweats I dont know. But it is interesting to see that Japonese ladies do not suffer from it.

As others have said Debra ,Pam's thread is quite informative and a laugh too, as we ladies seem to suffer the same symptoms and is somewhat reassuring to learn this and that we are not freaks of nature! lol
