The link to the video is at the bottom of the page. Keith from Hallswood Sanctuary who helped with Zeb's 'trolley' is a brilliant chap who runs an animal sanctuary here and he is currently fighting cancer. He has had so much to cope with, his wife died after contracting mrsa in hospital so he has been fighting to make people aware of mrsa and pushing for more cleaning in hospital etc. He also had a major fight on his hands to keep the sanctuary as the council wanted to close it I think, and has a stay of execution now, but now they are running low on donations due to the current economic climate. Despite all that he managed to help this little pup have a happy life.

They are traditionally known as man's four-legged friend, but one puppy is proving that two legs can be just as good.

Six-month-old Zebedee was born with back problems and cannot walk properly, but has been helped on the road to recovery with his own custom-made mobility scooter.

The young Staffie, who lives with owner Vikki Motley in Horsham St Faith, was born with a curve in his spine and compressed rib cage, which means he cannot not walk well and has problems co-ordinating his back legs.

But now Zeb, as his owners call him, has found an innovative way of getting around after being given a specially made mobility scooter device and 'superman' pants which fit over his back and hips.

The scooter has been specially made to Zeb's specifications by The Dogmobile Company, in Bridlington, which was set up by a couple whose own dog had leg troubles.

The scooter is strapped to Zeb with a harness and the two wheels then enable him to wheel around, rather than walk on his back legs.

Ms Motley, 32, said: “He absolutely loves the scooter - it has given him a new lease of life. It means he can do normal things other dogs do and is not just confined to staying in the garden.

“We are also hoping that over time the harness may also actually make his back legs a little stronger.”

Zeb uses his scooter to go on walks around Horsham St Faith and also to keep up with Vikki's other foster dogs, including a greyhound.

Ms Motley said: “Often the greyhound finds it hard to keep up with Zeb when he is strapped into wheels, it is wonderful to see them running together.”

Zeb was given to Hallswood Animal Sanctuary, in Stratton Strawless, last December when he was just eight weeks old, because his owners could not afford the amount which would have to be spent in medication and vets' fees to help correct his back problems.

Keith Hall, who owns the sanctuary, took him in and the centre paid almost £2,000 on treatments before he was passed on to his new owners.

Mr Hall said: “We have been told there is nothing more the vets can really do to improve his condition, so having this scooter has been a godsend. If it was not for the scooter he would not have a quality of life and I think we would have been forced to have him put down.”

The money for the scooter, which cost £200, was raised by bikers who visit The Boundary Pub in Aylsham Road, Norwich.

Hi Brian, it's amazing the things they invent to help animals and people, a little girl was on tv earlier today with those blade things on her legs as she lost her legs due to meningitis I think it was, and now she can get around and even run with those funny blade appendages.
