I think that, unless you specify surface mail it always goes air mail and that is why it gets there too soon. I am grateful to receive any cards whenever they get here :-)

Thanks Sylvia and Ann, guess what, I forgot to post the darned things yet again, so maybe I will leave it till next week anyway. I don't want to be the first one that people receive LOL

Today I have had my flu jab. My appointment was at 3.30, we arrived at 3.10, and we arrived home at 3.20 LOL hows that for treatment.

Isn't it awful how early it gets dark here in the U.K now, here we are at 4.30 ish, and we have had to put the table lamps on.

Mo in Kent

Mo in Kent Report 31 Oct 2014 21:14

No Ann, I haven't got the blog addy.

Well girls, have you had many trick or treaters around your ways.?
Fortunately, we only had one family knocking, there was a mum, aunty ,and five children, so the bag of lollies we bought are now being eaten by us...LOL
The Swizzels lollies are nothing like I remember them being ,when my children were young, but they wont go to waste thats for sure, especially the way Roly is noshing into them.

I don't know, men and their toys. Roly decided he wanted a new Sat Nav, so decided to update to a Tom Tom rather than our old Garmin.
What a joke, it has kept him happy for hours, trying to sort out how to set it up.
Anyone would think he had never had one before.

Tomorrow I am taking Lilly out for a few hours, whilst our son and D.I.L have their new carpet laid, though the lounge, and up the stairs.
The fitters are apparantly arriving at 7.00 a.m, huh, they must be joking if they think I am going over to their house for that time in the morning, I shall still be fast asleep at that hour.
Since the clocks chsnged, I haven't been waking up till later, I suppose my body is still not accustomed to the change, but then even if I am awake at that time, I am like a zombie till at least 9.00.
Wish me luck, as Lilly will probably still be hyper from going out trick or treating with her mum at 4.30 this afternoon.

I hope you are all keeping well, and I send my best wishes to you all. Mo

Well girls, I survived my visit with our lovely Lilly and Ava, I arrived home exhausted, but a happy bunny.
Apparantly, when my D.I.L took Lilly trick or treating, she had a brilliant time, till they knocked on one house, that was all decked out in halloween decorations, and the man who answered the door, was dressed up as Frankenstein, Lilly screamed so loud with fright, and wet herself at the same time, bless her so would I have done at a shock like that. LOL
Little one showed me all the treats she had been given, and I was so surprised at all the different treats that had been supplied by the householders. My buying lollies was so insignificent by comparison, still never mind.

I don't envy anyone with pets tonight, the poor creatures must be petrified. There's so many fireworks going off, they must have cost a fortune.
I was watching a beautiful display from our bedroom window earlier, why go out in the cold when they can be seen from inside the house.

Hello there Elizabeth.

Dear Mo

Hello

What a shock for Lily, Ohhhh!
The poor thing. Hope she's okay.

Went out this afternoon to a big sale for charity.

Now, I was told sternly by family folk not to buy any more books, DVD's etc.

What happened?!

I staggered back home with many books on research and history!

Well, can always find a bit of room........! :-S

The festivities of Halloween and Bonfire Night seem to have merged
at a couple of the displays here. Not too noisy, thank goodness.

Take gentle care
With best wishes
Elizabeth,
xx

Oh Elizabeth, I cannot for the life of me, walk past a charity shop, without going in and taking a look at what books they have on sale.
We are very lucky here, one of our charity shops sells three books for a £1.00, and one particular lady who walks there, is always saying to me "Oooh you surely haven't finished the last three already have you", I love to read, and it doesn't matter what the book is about, I still devour it, as if it was my last meal. LOL
Lilly is fine thank you. She was taken to a fireworks display last night, and the baby was thrilled and laughed at all the bangs and fireworks going off, but Lilly told her parents, "I'm bored, I want to go home," Hmm for a three and a half year old, she rules the roost normally, but had to wait till everyone else was ready to go home.
I hope you are all well wherever you may be. Hugs Mo

Hello girls, hope that you are all OK and that the weather isn't too bad wherever you live.

Mo, so pleased that your day went well with Lilly and Ava, even though you were exhausted afterwards, but very happy too.

I can imagine how frightened Lilly was when ' Dracula ' answered the door on Halloween, bless her.

Hope Roly has managed to get his new Sat Nav sorted by now and that it is working OK.

Ann, the wedding photos are really lovely, thank you for sharing them with us all.
I love the brides dress. especially the detail at the side of it.

Have you finished making all your Christmas cards yet? I have started making mine, but they are taking longer to make than they usually do and I'm not happy with some that I have managed to make. I think that at this rate, I will have to buy them this year.

Elizabeth, lovely to see you posting on here, you are always welcome.

I have always loved to read, but haven't been to concentrate to be able to read for a long while now......hopefully I will be able to get back into reading again before too long.

Jean, if you are looking in, I hope that you are starting to feel better and that you are able to make some cards,

It seems a long time since we heard from Huia, Sylvia and Marie, I hope that they are all okay. Miss seeing all our old friends on here.

Well, I will say goodnight to everyone, it's time for bed now.

Take care everyone.

Love, Sallie. xxx.

Hello Sallie and all. I look in most days but don't post often. I now seem to have the gardening bug. It is about 6 years since I did any real gardening. I started the other day by potting up a few perennials and things for our shop and then I decided I might grow some lettuces in pots, and get a large tomato plant from the garden shop (in a pot). I bought a big bag of compost, another of potting mix, and one of cutting mix today. I want to grow cuttings from some of my old fashioned shrubs for the shop.
My son is coming up from Rotorua tomorrow morning, I asked him to bring his chainsaw to cut down some of the native trees that are getting too big and in the way. I hope he will also trim some hedges and do one or two other jobs around the garden. He is just staying the one night. I cant do too much in the garden in case I fall over, but I now have the St Johns alarm if I do fall when nobody is here and I cant get up. Old age, who would have it?

Hello Sallie, and Huia.
Goodness me Sallie, your posting was at 00.36, I bet your brain was in overdrive, being awake at that time love.
I know how it is don't worry, if it wasn't for my sleeping tablets, I could probably hold a converstion with you till the dawn was breaking.....not that I am saying I could talk for England, but I probably could LOL.
Roly has to wait till Friday, for our son to come over to sort the Sat Nav out. He needs to register it, so that he can get updates, and I being thick cannot do it for him, plus I haven't got a printer should anything need printing out.

Huia, good on you doing your potting, it keeps your mind active doesn't it, and watching things grow is very satisfying.
Your son is going to be very busy, cutting the tree back, and tidying up the garden.
How does your St Johns alarm work? Would it take very long for someone to reach you in an emergency.
As far as old age goes, well, we all have to endure it don't we, mentally we still feel young, but physically it holds us back., never mind my love, do what you can and leave the rest.

Well, at long last I have posted my christamas cards overseas. The cost doesn't get any cheaper, but I want my friends to know that they are in my thoughts at this time of year.
Cor, hasn't it turned cold today, thank goodness for central heating. When we went shopping this morning, my poor ears felt like they were going to drop off, and I was glad to get back home in the warm again.
Stay safe and warm girls, hugs Mo

Hi Mo, and everyone

Like Huia, I often look in, but don't often post

not too much going on here at the moment ...............

............... it's a case of hunkering down and enduring the Pacific storm after Pacific storm that is being thrown at us

1 dry day followed by 1 or 2 days of torrential rain :-)

take care everyone

Mo in Kent Report 6 Nov 2014 12:55

Hello Sylvia,
I hope that you and your O.H are safe and well following the storm.
How are things with you both apart from the storm? Is little man doing well now.?
I hope that your daughter and son in law managed to sort out their problems. Having OCD certainly puts pressure on a marriage doesn't it.
My D.I.L is having a few problems at the moment, coping with our Lilly. The health visitor seems to think that little one has got A.D.H.D, as she is very hyper active, and demands a lot of attention, and with a baby of five months old, is not always able to get her own way, so then the temper tantrums start. D.I.L is finding it rather hard to cope with her.
We help out as much as possible, but we are not getting any younger, and Roly finds it difficult to cope with the noise.
It's alright for me, as I tend to switch off from the noise, but the screaming goes right through Roly's hearing aids, and gives him a headache. I can't win, as I would love to help out more than I do, but my husband must come first.

A big hello to everyone else, take care of yourselves girls. Mo

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 6 Nov 2014 16:17

Hi Mo

The trouble with hearing aids is, while they are very useful for magnifying other peoples' speech, they are very painful with other noises. Children screaming, loud music, people shouting on mobile phones can all be quite painful.

I haven't posted my oversea cards yet, I will send them by air. did yours go surface mail Mo?

Huia

Huia Report 6 Nov 2014 20:10

Mo, I have a pendant round my neck. If I have any serious problems I press and hold the button in the middle of it for the count of 3. It rings through to St John, who then try to ring me back to find out what the problem is. They try 3 times then if I don't answer they send an ambulance out. The pendant works within a radius of 300 metres of the "black box" (actually white). If my internet is connected through the phone there is a gadget which breaks the internet connection, so if I have been busy here and dash down the passage to the loo and fall and break my leg so I cant get to the phone the pendant does it all for me. If I am outside, and fall and cannot get up, to answer the phone they send it out. I always lock the doors when I am inside (unless it is a hot day!) but there is a key for the backdoor in a secret place which the ambulance people know, so they don't have to break a window to get in. I probably wont use the button too often I hope, but it is nice to have that security of knowing I can call for help if I am lying helpless somewhere outside.
