jean christmas lunch sounded lovely.

The bathroom is finished. Alan came this morning and finished off a few bits, and cleared the builders yard from the front of the house. It came in under the estimate so I was well pleased, all settled up. so start saving for the next project now.

Photos on the blog. Awkward to take because it is very dull and dark here today and didn't want to use flash because of the reflections off the tiles.

Sallie, thank you for your lovely card, i really like that one, very Christmassy.

I have spent the time since Alan left (11.15) putting all the bits back in the bathroom. T is at golf otherwise I'd be able to do a bit more as he has a windowsill to paint, a small cupboard to put up, toilet roll holder and mirror etc etc to put up. I was not best pleased that he went to golf but he'd put his name down weeks ago thinking Alan would have finished before today.

Hi everyone

one lovely sunny day after several wet grey ones.

However, rain down here means lots of snow up on the local mountains. I think they might have a bumper season over Christmas and New Year

Ann ......... glad your renos are almost finished. Is T good at getting the little jobs done??

I hate to admit it, but I still one windowsill that OH has not finished after our reno back in 1977 :-0

It needs a little bit adding underneath it ............. which he doesn't seem to see as "urgent" ............ or necessary?

Word today is that our friend had a bad day yesterday. We're beginning to wonder if she is going to fade even faster than we thought

AnninGlos Report 16 Dec 2015 20:18

Yes Sylvia he isn't too bad at getting things finished, gets ratty when things don't go right though.

Jean yes the tiles are white with a sort of grey smear across them, very faint. The bath is a shower bath.

AnninGlos Report 16 Dec 2015 21:10

Realised it wasn't under the estimate it was about £300 over because of extras like the grout he got for the tiles for us. Still good though because he did lots of little extra jobs. Like supplying and fitting new skirting boards.

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 16 Dec 2015 21:43

it's those little extras that add the pennies!!!

AnninGlos Report 16 Dec 2015 22:02

True Sylvia but he could have charged more if he'd taken everything into account, bearing in mind he was here for 12 and a half days.

Ooh, we have a rather thin but very affectionate black cat here. Just picked him up from the estate up the back. We are pretty sure it is Lucas, he is very at home and Luna seems not bothered by him as she would be if he was a strange cat. He is very hungry, and minus his collar. Daughter will take him for a check up at the vet after Christmas. Six weeks ago he went off, strange because we were here when he went and seems quite happy to be cuddled by me as well as Lyn.

Sallie Report 21 Dec 2015 23:02

Ann, happy to hear that you are sure that Lucas is back at home. Bless him, he must feel so contented to be back in his warm home and enjoying cuddles from both you and Lyn.

We went down to Wales on Saturday to visit our family and to take their Christmas presents from us. The weather was dreadful, nothing but heavy rain and high winds. Still we enjoyed our day, it was lovely to se all the family.

Alun has had his appointment through to see the cardiac surgeon, so that he will explain what needs to be done and explain the procedure. It is on the 19th of January at Glenfield Hospital in Leicester at 9.00 am. although we are hoping he will be able to have the operation done at Nottingham City Hospital.

I have also got an initial appointment to see the Psychologist on the 7th of January, so things are starting to move for both of us now, thank goodness, I shall be glad when it;s all over and done with, especially Alun's surgery.

Hope you are all okay, especially Mo, as we haven;t heard from her for a good while.

Will chat to you again soon.

Take care.

A Happy Christmas to you all, girls.

I havent sent any cards this year as I have been concentrating on other things. Yesterday at work one customer got me feeling very stressed, I think I put the details on the Aussie thread.

Sally, are you still at the same address in Ilkeston? A couple of months ago I bought a small calendar to send you, if I can now find it.

Hi everyone

we are back from our Christmas trip to the Island.

I hope you all had a great Christmas, in your different ways.

We did, although it was different from what we had originally planned, but still very enjoyable.

The weather on Christmas Day was glorious .............. sun and blue skies, but it was chilly. It rained on the other days ............ and there was even snow on the morning we left.

Our friend was in good form, and the Palliative Care Centre was terrific with her. We went in twice a day for about an hour each time. We had a lot of fun with her :-)

In fact, she may be released to a full care home for a few days/weeks as she is now in better shape after feeding, re-hydration and pain control sorted out, and they need the bed for patients in worse shape.

The bad report we had just before Christmas was due to someone forcing their way into her room, against the No Visitors rule, who had not seen her for several months ............... so naturally they were shocked!

Another friend joined us for the Christmas Buffet at the hotel, as well as having dinner with us on the 23rd. We had a great time with him ..........

so all worked out well. :-D
