Mo in Kent Report 15 Jul 2016 15:25

Oh dear me, we are slipping down the boards again.

This nice weather is great, but, the migraine caused by the humidity is awful.

It has taken me two days to clear the drive of moss and weeds, and cor lummy, my back is aching, but, it's all done now, and it looks GREAT.

Have a great weekend everyone, hope to hear from you soon, hugs Mo xxx

Sallie Report 15 Jul 2016 23:52

Hello girls,

Ann, thank you for the birthday card, I received it on Wednesday morning. I love the photo of the flower on the front of it, you take some really wonderful photos....wish I could say the same about Alun and myself. lol!!

I must have a look at your photo blog once I have finished on here. It sounds as though your back garden is like ours, colourful, but it looks very untidy.

Mo, glad that you have finished your drive, as you say it makes your back ache to do,but it looks lovely once it is done. Alun has done over half of ours, so still has to finish it, hopefully he will manage to get it done over the weekend, if it doesn't rain, of course.

I'm sorry to hear that Lilly still hasn't seen anyone, they really are taking their time sending her an appointment for an assessment, let's hope that she will get one soon.

Sylvia, pleased to hear that you had the all clear at the hospital and hope that your back and aching joints are much better now.

Jean, I now have my card making back upstairs, as Jennie and Michael are now living in their own place again, they moved out two weeks ago today. It is funny without them being here after 14 months, we especially miss Jay ( their dog ) there was always a welcome home after we had been out.

Can't get over that you and J have been living at your new place for almost a year, the time has gone so quickly.

Alun, had his post op assessment three weeks ago, everything is fine, thank goodness,he still has to take most of his medication until the end of the month and he has to go to physiotherapy for cardiac rehabilitation, every Wednesday and Friday at Ilkeston Hospital, for six weeks. He can also drive again so can get there without having to rely on Jennie taking him. Many times since Alun had his operation I have wished that I had carried on with driving lessons years ago and had passed my driving test.

It is nine months since I started seeing the CMHT and although they tell me I have taken tiny steps towards managing my illness, it seems to me most of the time, that I have taken one tiny step forward and two bigger steps back.

My cousin that had the two major operations within two days of each other last November, died three weeks ago. She had cancer of the womb so had to have a hysterectomy, they told her that she was clear of it, but five weeks ago they told her that it had gone into her pelvic bone, which apparently they had warned her about. It came as a shock to all the family as she died a lot sooner than we were told she would, but at least she didn't suffer too long, so it was a blessing.

My niece (brother's) daughter, gave birth to her baby son three days after the funeral. Her and her partner have named him Charlie after my sister-in law's brother, whose middle name is Charles, as he has terminal cancer and has got a very short time left now.

Well, I must finish now, starting to lose my concentration, so better go before it goes completely. lol!!!

Love, Sallie. xxx

Morning all, I went to the bladder clinic yesterday , I dont know why I was so edgy, coulnt sleep, however I saw a lovely lady almost as old as me ;-) ;-) she was brilliant, asked a lot of questions and gave me special exersises to do , she also explained how importment it is to drink lots of fluids , and get decaf coffee, also I need to do more walking , which for me is hard, but I will make the effort, she said over the coming weeks I would be a new woman :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D,I go to the special clinic every six weeks for a while....It was such a relief hearing that I could do something about it all.

Sallie lovely to see you chatting again, I am pleased that Alun is well on the road to complete recovery, you too, it will be lovely that you will be able to get out and about now He is driving , I too regret I didnt carry on driving still cant go back so onwards and upwards ;-) ;-) ;-)

I have been making card again after a short break ,all of one day ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)
now I have another boxful of christmas cards and more to come...
I have had to reorder more card blanks and do some recycling of last years cards.

but I love it :-D :-D :-D :-D

Mo you are a wonder woman, do you never stop!!!
I was sorry to read that Lily is still waiting to have some help, its not good and I am sure it not good for you either we never stop worrying about our children and the littlies. so my lovely friends I will say bye bye for now, take care

Hello girls, good to hear from you Jean and our lovely Sallie.

Sorry to hear your sad news Sallie, but thank the lord your cousin didn't suffer for to long. It's sad about your SIL's brother as well, the big C is a real bu**er, and it's about time they found a way of treating it and getting rid of it completely, to save so many suffering.
I can't tell you how pleasing it is, that Alun is progressing so well, and now that he is mobile again, you can get out and about without to many problems.
Take each day as it comes darling, it may seem that you take one step forwards and two back, but your concentration is getting better each day, and that's
very important.
Did Alun get the drive finished ?

Jean you are so right, it doesn't matter what age our children//grandchildren are, we still worry about them.
I told you that you and J should take up dancing in the park, round and round the bandstand, mind you you would need to walk there first lol

Well another sweltering day today girls. At 2.00 p.m I really thought we were going to get a nice drop of rain, there were black clouds in the sky, and we could smell rain, but it came to nothing.
It looks like this nice weather is here for most of the week, so perhaps our summer is here at last.
Bye for now my lovelies, take care, hugs from me to you, Mo xxx

This heat is killing me, the place we live in is boiling with all the heating on in the corridors there is little air even if we go outside, Mo I would love to dance again I used to love it, but cant put one foot in front of the other without falling over these days ;-) ;-) ;-)

even to hot to do some cards :-( :-( :-(

hope everyone is coping with the heatwave, take care ........

AnninGlos Report 20 Jul 2016 20:48

Jean why is the heating on in the corridors this hot weather. So wasteful and just as dangerous to get overheated as to get too cold.

Mo in Kent

Mo in Kent Report 20 Jul 2016 21:37

Oh bless you Jean, why on earth have they still got the heating on, yes I know that the powers that be worry that people of certain ages do feel the cold, but, how it is at the moment it's ridiculous.
I am sat here with the fan blowing on me, and I am still hot.
Last night, probably like most of us, I think I saw every hour of the night, good grief it was soooo hot in the bedroom, I was sorely tempted to get up and go and sleep in the garden, if it wasn't for the midges and flying insects, I would have done.

Stay cool and safe girls, love and hugs, Mo xxx

JustJean

JustJean Report 20 Jul 2016 21:51

I asked why it couldnt be turned off the answer was most of the oldies said its cold, needless to say it wasnt me :-S :-S :-S so good job we have a fan although it doesnt make a huge difference, my way of dealing with it is to have a lie down each afternoon,
I recall when we went to Spain it was a good way of dealing with the heat, everything stopped in the afternoon shops shut , it seemed a sensible idea but they traded most of the evening when it was cooler......

JustJean Report 25 Jul 2016 19:30

At last cooler weather, we had a ride to the moors and hoped to have a walk across the dam bridge, just got out of the car and the heavens opened, I didnt try it again,
but it felt nice to have some breeze on ones face...

Not a lot going on at present, very calm and quiet :-\ :-\ :-\
our darling daughter has made us four lots of meals, hotpot, lasagne, spag bo;, and a chicken dish made with diet coke we have just had it , mmmm lovely....
she is a good cook and tries allsorts of things, but it does mean dad gets a rest from cooking :-D :-D :-D
I still supervise from my comfy armchair ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

hope everyone is o.k. take care folks,

Gsh down on page 4 that would never have happened in the past. Hope you are enjoying the meals that D cooked for you Jean. shame your walk was rained off.

Today, We were supposed to be going to visit Kifsgate garden Chipping Camden but the U3A group leader cancelled it because rain was forecast. We, instead drove to Evesham Country park and garden centre and shops. We had a short walk round the country park up to where the picnic area and children’s play area is. Took a few photos, mostly of the wild flowers growing in the park which were very pretty. There were lots of plums on the trees but unfortunately they were not ripe yet. We had lunch in the garden centre, Senior citizens special, chicken, tomato and basil with rice and vegetables, then I had sticky toffee pudding and Tony had apple crumble. We then looked round the garden centre and I bought a half price coat, lightweight and shower proof in navy blue. Bought a few other bits in the garden centre and The Works. Got home at 2.15pm, a pleasant day out. Oh and there were only a few spots of rain. so we could have gone to the garden.

:-D :-D

JustJean Report 1 Aug 2016 22:43

Hi Ann just you and me then ;-) ;-) wonder were all the other friends are may be its run its course.... :-( :-( D made four more meals for us again, she loves cooking and is quite good at it :-D :-D :-D we had a walk in the park yesterday, very well attended by all the familys, I noticed a lot of dads were with the littlies, and they really enjoyed it..

quite a bit cooler now although sunshine is good, but far to hot, one thing I have noticed in the park lots of big trees but not a lot of flowers same with the residents garden, but the man who used to look after it is off at present, his young son has a brain tumour and he is spending as much time with him as he can,

I am still doing the christmas cards, and still waiting to get some pics put on, pathetic really I should be able to do them myself ;-) ;-) ;-)

Hope Sallie is doing ok, also the lovely Mo :-D ladies over seas also , well past my bedtime chat later take care

I just lost some stuff I had been typing. Grrrr. I still look in at GR each day, but only at the first page to see who has been posting what.

I have been busy trying to get rid of stuff, feel I am beginning to get started on getting on top of it, but still a long way to go. :-(

I am still working Monday afternoons in the Hospice shop, and have now taken on Tuesday mornings which means getting up earlier, but a couple of weeks ago a younger woman started with me, though doing only from 10 till 1, whereas I have been starting at 9.30. But perhaps in time I will leave it for the boss to fill the first half hour so I can drop out.

I have also been busy on Facebook.

I suppose I should shut down now, the doc. said turn the computer off at 6.30 to help me get to sleep more easily, and here it is almost 7pm.

See you again some time.

Huia.

Pleased to hear that you got out for a walk in the park. I suspect flowers would be more labour intensive Jean.

We have had an active weekend. Walked about 4 miles Friday, and saturday and almost five today. Photos on the blog and I am shattered.

Hi to all my friends,

Sorry not been on for a while, but still struggling along so finding it difficult to concentrate on doing quite a few things.

Jean, it's good that you are able to do another card making tutorial, I'm sure that they will all love watching you and then will enjoy making the a card themselves.
Hope that J and D are both going along okay.

Ann, no wonder you are tired after all the miles you have walked over the weekend..... well done to both you and T.
Alun and I went to Shipley Country Park this afternoon and enjoyed a long walk around the park. It's a popular place for lots of people, including dog walkers, cyclists and horse riders.

Huia, you are a busy bee. It's good that you have a lot of things of interest that keep you occupied and busy.

I hope that everything is alright with both Mo and Sylvia. It isn't like Sylvia not to post for a good while.

It's a very long time since Marie posted on here.... also hope that all is well with her.

Will try and look in again very soon.

Take care everyone.

Love, Sallie.xxx <3 <3 <3

Sallie, doing the night shift again. Good to see you on here and nice that you enjoyed a good walk in the country park, one of life's free medicines, fresh air!
I think Sylvia was expecting her daughter to visit so don't know if that is why she has not posted recently. Hope she is ok anyway.
Jean, glad you liked the pics on the blog. even with all that walking I put on a pound over the weekend. No justice is there. Must have heavy muscles now!
Good to do another card tutorial and Christmas cards will be good. Why did you decide to not do any more?

Mo, where are you. I know Huia is ok because she was on another thread and is on facebook. I also saw Marie fleetingly on facebook. :-) <3
