Sallie Report 23 Aug 2016 23:38

Hello ladies,

Mo, I hope that the antibiotics will clear the E.Coli and that you will soon feel a lot better. It was a shame that you and Roly had to miss the family BBQ, but there will be other family get- together's again that you will both be able to go to.

Ann, glad to hear that you got my birthday card and that you enjoyed your day.

I have started to make one card, but it is slow going I'm afraid. I think Joanne (psychologist) was trying to motivate me into making some as she said that she had been looking for some cards but couldn't get what she wanted and had thought about how I made cards. So somehow I have got the job of making her two ladies birthday cards by the time I see her next time.....she is on holiday this week and next, so I have a bit of time to do them. Just hope that I can concentrate enough so that I can do them for her.

Jean, as you know Richard and Christie live in flat and a couple of times in the past they have had problems with non-residents tipping their rubbish in front of the big bins that only the residents should use. I don't know how people have the nerve and cheek to dump their rubbish on other peoples property like they do.

Hope all is well with J and D.

Sylvia, when it is too hot like it's been today I try not to go out in it, unless I have to either go shopping or have to keep an appointment. This hot weather doesn't agree with me at all, but Alun loves it.

Huia, hope everything is okay with you and your family.

Hope to speak to you all again soon. Take care everyone.

Love and best wishes. Sallie. xxx <3 <3 <3

Hello folks, still very warm and sticky,Sallie good to see you are back to your crafting,
I have had to put mine on hold due a trapped sciatic nerve, the pain is awful,I had to get the carers help me stand up , then we had to call for the doctor, he said it could take weeks to get right, but I have the pain killers also a pray from J and it felt a lot better this morning, but I cant walk very far . I so wanted to get out for some fresh air maybe tomorrow.....

Hope Mo is feeling better, but I suppose it all takes time and doing what one is told,

whoever dumped the rubbish has now removed it at least we think it was them,
there was an envelope with a name and address on,

hoping everyone is keeping well

love to all Jean xxx <3 <3 <3

Jean, oh dear, hope that you will soon feel better. Alun has the same problem as you, he just turned very slightly and felt the pain shoot down his leg. He did it two weeks ago but is still having trouble with it, so the doctor has referred him to the physiotherapist, so he has an appointment on the 2nd. September.

Last Wednesday he had to go for an Echocardiogram just to check that things are going along okay, then if his Consultant is happy with the results he will refer him back to Royal Derby Hospital. All the tests are done there, so he will have to go every so often for an 'Echo'. They have all the high tech testing equipment there, so they do all the tests but they don't do the heart operations, so everyone has to go to either Nottingham City Hospital or Glenfield Hospital in Leicester for the operation.

It has taken me days to try and make one of the cards that I am going to make for Joanne and it still isn't finished, lol!! I am not very motivated at the moment but hope that I can manage to make them by the time I see Joanne next.

Hope you will be able to make cards again very soon, Jean.

Love to everyone. Sallie. xx <3 <3

Mo in Kent Report 25 Aug 2016 16:09

Cooee my lovelies.
Good news, the infection has now cleared, but still getting pain from the kidney unfortunately.
Now it's a question of waiting for my appointment.

Sylvia, I didn't have cystitis, or any symptoms, apart from the pain in my side, and feeling like a washed out rag, with flu like symptoms. Never mind, I am feeling so much better now, thank the lord.
I have never drunk so much water in my life before, and need to continue with it now, because of the heat, cor it's been sooo hot here in the south east.
Last night at ten thirty, it was still 27c, so we had another hot sweaty night, with very little sleep.

Oh Jean my lickle love, I am sorry to read that you are suffering, get J to rub you down with the Sporting Life, that should help a bit, it may not cure the problem, but it will make J feel better.LOL
A trapped sciatic nerve is very very painful sweetheart, and I do feel for you, take care darling girl.

Sallie, cheat a little, and get a card from the shop, and pretend you made it. NO that would never do,the home made ones are a one off, and are quite beautiful.
You girls are so clever at what you do, and I am the cheat on this thread in buying shop bought ones, oh if only I had the patience to make them myself.

Well, time to do some dinner, that means putting the oven on for the first time in days,I can't face another salad today.
Take care girls, sending you all hugs.x

Hi Mo, I'm so pleased to hear that the infection has cleared up, hope that the pain in the kidney you are still suffering from will also soon get better. Sending you love and hugs.

It is very hot and humid here too Mo, I shall be glad when it gets a bit cooler. Just wish I didn't have to have the oven on, but I suppose we have to eat. lol!!

Must go and check on our dinner now, thought I would send you this message while it is cooking.

Jean a trapped sciatic neve sounds really painful, sciatica is bad enough that I have. I hope the pain eases for you.

Just watching TV about the earthquake in Italy, we have been to a hill town, didn't realise it was in a potential earthquake area.

Mo pleased to hear the infection has cleared. I suppose they have checked that you don't have a kidney stone? I know that can be very painful. I hope they can soon get you sorted.
Mo shop bought don't matter, it is just good to get a card from you.

Sallie, you will get there, you will be so pleased to finish a card. But don't put yourself under to much pressure, don't aim for a too complicated card.

A very happy Anniversary, to Ann and T, for tomorrow, and for our Sallie and Alun for Sunday, enjoy your special days.
I do hope you are well enough to enjoy next weeks excitement Jean. The Cream tea sounds very yummy, I wish we could join you, perhaps you can smuggle some down the cyber hatch for us, but not if they are very crumbly, coz they will ruin the key boards. LOL

We have had a wonderful day today, our son came over with his four children. It's the first time we have all been together since the Christmas before last. They are wonderful children, and the eldest two, are the ones that at some time will be emigrating with their mum and stepdad to Australia, we shall miss them dreadfully, but it's their futures at stake, and this country does not hold much for them now does it.

Another scorching day today, and apparently there was an electric storm during the early hours, and pouring rain with it, but guess who never heard it, yes me, and there was I thinking I had had a bad nights sleep, but obviously I had slept sounder than I thought LOL

Well my lickle loves, have a great weekend, I shall speak to you again soon. xxx

Thank you Mo and Jean for your anniversary wishes for Alun and me for tomorrow.

Also Happy Anniversary to Ann and Tony for today, hope you both have a lovely day.

Mo so glad to hear that you and Roly had a lovely day yesterday with your son and his children. It's a shame that your two grandchildren are emigrating to Australia soon, so will not be able to meet up with them as much as you would like to....but I'm sure that they will come back to the 'old country' for a holiday sometimes and you will be able to make arrangements to meet up with them.

Hope that the pain you are suffering has started to improve and that you soon feel much better.

Jean, sounds as though there is a lot going on there, hope that you can manage to get down to the cream tea and all the other events that are going on next week. Hope that both you and J will enjoy yourselves.

I am only making a simple card, but I am even having trouble doing that.....will have to see how it goes.

Sylvia, sending both you and OH belated 49th Anniversary Wishes for the 12th of August,so sorry to have missed it. Anyway, I hope that you both had a lovely day together.

Will chat to you all again soon.

Enjoy your weekend everyone and take care.

Love to you all, Sallie. xxx <3 <3 <3

Hi girls,

Thank you Sylvia for your Anniversary Wishes and also thank you Mo, Jean and Ann for your lovely cards.....it is really nice to be thought of, thank you.

We have had a quiet day at home, with it being the Bank Holiday and that it would probably be busy everywhere, we decided that we would wait until all of the family are together and we can all go out for a meal then.

Hope that you are all okay and that you have all had a good weekend.

AnninGlos Report 1 Sep 2016 14:35

It was a sad day yesterday as our neighbour (in her 80s and very fragile) next door had a heart attack. The ambulance and paramedic were both here very quickly and stayed here over two hours, they did all they could but were unable to save her. Her husband, also in his 80s is not well himself, he thought he had problems with one of his eyes but the eye clinic could find nothing wrong so he has been referred to the neurological clinic next week, he feels and looks drunk most of the time. Luckily his daughter who lives on her own, has moved in with him at the moment.. We are wondering when the funeral will be as we have so much booked for next week.
Also today the young couple opposite have a new baby in the house, not sure if it was born today or yesterday or what sex it is. Need to know so I can make a card. They already have a little girl about 2.

Today 1 September, the first day of autumn and a lovely bright, warm sunny day. We went into town as I had a chiropodist appointment. Went to M&S and struck lucky in their sale. Got a pair of white footglove sandals reduced right down from £39.50 to £13.49, a pair of bikini boy shorts bottoms in black reduced from £16 to £3.99 and a Per Una top reduced from £29.50 to £12.49. I was well pleased with these bargains. Had lunch in Wetherspoons.

Mo in Kent Report 1 Sep 2016 17:58

Oh how sad Ann. It's strange the saying about hearing of a death and a birth, around the same time, nearly always occurs like this doesn't it.
You lucky girl getting your sales bargains again at M+S. I had a quick look yesterday, but there was so many people rooting through the racks, I couldn't even get close enough to have a look.
Typical of me, I was looking round trying to find some new maxi dresses, but all the Autumn clothes are now in stock, so I ended up by just getting a top in Romans, and no dresses at all.
Like you, we have had a wonderful day weather wise. It's so nice not to have to take a cardigan, or jacket out to wear as it's been glorious sunshine. Fingers crossed it lasts a while longer.
I can't believe it's almost the weekend again. Good lord the time flies by now we are retired, one week rolls into the next before we realise it.

Take care everyone, hugs to you all.

We do keep slithering down the boards so I shall just rescue us again.
Should be doing a bit of gardening really this afternoon as it is lovely out there, one of those warm and sunny autumn days. However, all I have done in the garden today is to take a few photos of the remaining flowers. didn't have the energy to do anything else. My legs ache, we went for a 4.5 mile walk this morning, just a local walk with the U3A, 12 of us walking. was not impressed to have to get through a group of frisky nosy bullocks (I think they were). However it was a good walk, flat but a bit muddy in places and rough walking through a couple of fields with public footpath running through them, about 4 or five stiles too and we are all retired so no young ones among us. OH and a couple more gents were available to hoist us over the stiles. And one of the gents was admirable with his stick fending off the cattle. We started and finished at the golf club so ended up with all twelve of us having drinks and in some cases lunch. T and I shared a lovely bowl of hot chunky chips. Thereby undoing all the hard work of walking the calories off this morning.

T seems to have found some more energy and has gone off to play nine holes of golf.

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 6 Sep 2016 19:24

Ann ............ that sounds a great walk! Beyond me, I'm afraid!!

OH's cousin-by-marriage and his new partner are visiting us this coming weekend. B and partner quite a bit younger than us, and both are mountain climbers, while OH loves walking. I think I'm going to send the 3 of them off on Sunday to one of two local places to walk while I stay home.

The local paper has an article this morning on some old growth forest which is quite close, in a valley just on the other side of the harbour, and seemingly hardly anyone knows about it although it is a protected area with 12 km of paved walk and lots of trails. Somehow the area escaped the logging that took place from about 1886 t0 the 1990s.

I think they would enjoy it!
