Yes I think there was a beef one.it was easy cooking I think.

SylviaInCanada Report 10 Mar 2017 18:24

yes, there was a Vest curry I also liked, and I think it was the prawn.

Oh boy ........... didn't we think we were being adventurous eating Vest curry and trying some of their other "foods". Wasn't there an Indian-type beef??

:-D :-D :-D

Hi all ............

having lots of rain here ............. mixed with some wet snow :-(

Funny ............. I've been thinking about making spag bol for 2 or 3 weeks now! Even added tinned tomato paste, tom sauce etc to the grocery list, but still not had an evening when I needed to make it!

I use a recipe my sister-in-law gave me back in the early 60s when I was living in a flat in Liverpool and beginning to cook. She wasn't a very good cook back in those days (even she admitted it!), but this was one meal I did like. Of course, I've changed it a little bit over the years ............ added a few more herbs and some garlic, and taken out the Vesta dried peas :-D

Good to see you Sallie :-) <3

Hi Jean, We have had some lovely spring like days too. However, sadly, it is back to normal today and chucking it down with rain. Must have heard thatwe intended going out to buy garden compost. Can't do that in the rain as the bags will be all wet.My problem when the sun shines is that I have to shut it out because it shines directly onto the pc screen.

Ages since I had cheese and onion pie, one of the things we were taught to make at school (they were not very inventive but I assume as it was early 50s the ingredients were easy to get.) I caught the end of mary Berry, was surprised at the sunblushed tomatoes but I can't remember what else she put in, I do remember thinking that spag bol is a cheap meal for some people, no need to glam it up. Oh yes she also put white wine in, that is a no no for me, I prefer to put in some red wine.

we can see were C has put is hands on the glass looking for gramps I finally managed to wipe them off , until he comes again ;-) ;-) ;-)

watched mary berry on tv l couldnt believe the stuff she put in spag bol. I like her cooking but now its gone so up market most of the people watching cant afford
the ingrediants, still I am sure it can be adapted, we are hoping to make cheese and onion pie today, or should I say J will be doing it ,I just shout instructions :-D :-D :-D
to be fair he is doing a great job cooking and admits to enjoying it....what we have found as we get older the big platefulls we used to have is now much smaller and in my case a few pounds lighter weight wise, so that is good news. :-D :-D hope everyone is o.k and looking forward to some nice days ahead

haha Sylvia, I am trying to get rid of a lot of my old stuff, but its lovely to recieve some times instead of giving, I like the sound of your trip, do let us know how you get on,

I am sorry to hear what our Mo said ,Ann,I realise we are small in number , I personally
dont have that much news these days life for us is very different now. and I think chatting about our crafting puts people off adding. but I do enjoy reading all the news here and on other threads,so until this thread goes off the radar I hope to keep adding to it .many thanks for the card Ann, I am off to have my hair done just in case we go out ;-) ;-)

take care everyone love Jean xx <3 <3

are the fairies leaving excess craft stuff for you guys?? :-D :-D :-D

We're well here, but having the weirdest weather ..... may get another dump of snow over the weekend as the weather cools down once again.

I've just booked a little trip for the end of the month ........ we're going to fly to a small town in the north, meet up with some friends, then take the train (!!) to Jasper, and then back to Vancouver.

Hi Jean, Mo is ok, 'spoke' to her on facebook yesterday. She is not on here as much now as not many of us are posting regularly on the thread. Yes wonder how Sallie is, she should come on for a chat, might help to make her feel better.

Glad the tooth was fixed painlessly (for your pocket). Oh dear, where is all the craft stuff coming from? I had a load just before Christmas but a lot was not what I use so it went to the school via my neighbour.

No snow here, lovely sunny (but windy) spring morning this morning :-) :-)

JustJean

JustJean Report 2 Mar 2017 08:26

Morning one and all, woke up to snow although not a lot, I made it to the dentist yesterday , he did a great job with the broken tooth, built it up and it looks great , no cap needed, hence the wallet is not as thin as we expected :-D :-D

when I came back , I was told that there was some stuff in the flat in my craft room . so when I looked there are more craft stuff and i have much more than before :-0 :-0
I am still waiting for the school to pick up the stuff I have sorted out....luckily the cards I have already done has nearly gone so more to make......

still no news from Mo and Sallie hope they are ok.

Hope the vertigo is gone by next week then Jean. And that yours is a lot cheaper.. I might look around then for something similar.

Hopefully the wind has dropped here. It was sunny right through the afternoon and so nice that it was light until 6pm.

Hope you enjoyed your meal, I did liver, bacon, mushrooms and onions in gravy with jacket potatoes. It was very tasty. :-D

JustJean Report 23 Feb 2017 17:54

Ann you frightened me with the charge for a cap on Ts tooth we have just paid for two funeral plans being over 80 we had to pay up front, :-0 :-0 :-0
I had to cancel again as the vertigo is still fighting me but it wont win ;-) ;-) ;-) as the tooth isnt hurting only a bit sharp, I go next week....

The stamp[ng tool is off amazon £39 with postage. bit of a drawback it works lovely but as there is no metal you dont get any magnets to hold the card or paper down so I came up with the idea of putting two rubber bands round it and it worked fine.
I know Fiskars,do something that also helps with stamping, its on e-bay. dont know how much ...

my chef is doing sausage and mash for tea, he is worth his weight in gold :-D :-D :-D :or in my case I wonder if he will accept an IOU ;-) ;-) ;-) wind and rain have stopped
so hope it doesnt return.....

Hope our Mo is ok also Sallie it doesnt seem the same without them sending love and prayers to them <3 <3 <3

Hi all

Jean, glad you have an appointment for your eyes. but sorry you had vertigo when you need to get your tooth sorted. T has the same problem at the moment, front tooth sheered off so is in the middle of having a crown fitted (nearly £600, no NHS dentists here!). He is gappy at the moment.

I hope the vertigo is better today anyway.

Ooh let me know how well the new tool works and how much it is. I have been doing a bit of stamping recently. As you know it is not my favourite medium but I have been quite enjoying it.

Sylvia, hope your back eases soon. True to the old saying no gain without pain I think!

We love wandering around garden centres here that have lots of different things to buy besides plants. I do find though that clothes in them tend to be more expensive, although usually good quality.

Really windy here today but dry and sunny, not sure if we have had full blown storm Doris or just the edge. We drove to tesco and there were twigs all over the roads but no trees down as in some places. The garden is being battered a bit though.

Hi everyone

Jean ..... glad you've finally got your eye appointment! We set up our funeral arrangements years ago, along with saying what hymns we would like IF daughter decided she wanted a funeral ............. our preference would be a Celebration of Life. The Celebration seems to be much more common over here than with you. It's usually held weeks or months after the death, and really does celebrate the life of the person.

We seem to be heading to some more cooler weather .............. in fact the "s" word was mentioned as a possibility overnight either today or tomorrow. The temperature has been up around 8 or 9 at night for several days ............. but it's really too early for that, even for us!

I went for my first physio visit yesterday since Dec 8, is before we left on our holiday. That darned cough meant I had to keep cancelling the appointments I had in January and earlier this month .......... no point in going for work on your spine if you can't lie flat on either your stomach or your back!

He was actually quite pleased with me .................. despite the fact that I had not done any of my exercises for about 3 weeks (because of not being able to lie flat), my spine had held up fairly well.

BUT I am [paying for it today ............... I'm sitting here with a heat pad against my back to ease it :-| :-( :-S

We have finally got garden centres here who are adding "boutique" sections to their areas ................... the first one did it about 2 years ago, and got laughed at!! But ........... surprise, surprise ................ things sold well.

Most of them do seem to be concentrating on local designers, and "boutique-y" style. There isn't one anywhere near us, but I do wonder about how expensive the clothes are.
