He usually does strange shaped figures, sometimes in oil, pastel, or portraits of women (beautiful) , some still life in oils, or charcoal/pencil.l've not seen many landscapes, his son Phillip has done more landscapes l think.

That painting's really nice Jude, I'm so glad you have some of his work.:o)

My brother makes bonsai pots and out of interest, I just put his (my maiden) surname in the search box on e-bay.
None of his pots for sale, but a few paintings from a Canadian with the same surname - Prices range from £32 - £41!! Not quite on the scale of your grandfather, but my other brother bought me 2 of her paintings a few years ago, and I don't think he would have paid that price for them!!

*Maybe I should put them up on the wall now*

It's lovely Jude, how proud you must be to see anything done by your relatives - wish I had such talent in my family. I do have a couple of stone obelisk thingies somehere, about 18" high, which apparently were made by my great grandfather, a stone mason, but have no idea whether he worked anything special altho I know he worked on some cathedrals and big houses in England. Nothing else unless the wooden eggcups on a stand and a wooden fruit bowl, which my Mum said were wedding gifts, came from my carpenter uncle, grandson of the stone mason.

Liz.......l think there is an artist in all of us, its just that maybe it has'nt shown in all of us yet....lol. Your wooden egg cups, stand and bowlsound lovely:o)

Maggie.....l remember you telling me about your brother before, hope he's still doing well??

Annie......tis a shame, but atleast l can see them in art galleries etc and l do have the sketches from ebay:o). You must be very proud of your dad. But what is the history behind the back street in the East End, have you asked your dad. Could'nt you swap with your daughter, but check yours out first!!

l'll have to keep an eye on ebay to see if it sells.

The wooden egg cups etc are fairly primitive but I remember them all through my childhood till we had our own special Easter gift plastic ones, so they will always be special. Mum and Dad married soon after the war ended and neither family had much money then, some of us still don't lol
