Went into work today just before 7am, to be ready to open shop at 8am. Electric shutters wouldn't work due to power cut. Popped into shop opposite and asked if I could phone our Help Line, money in hand, for phone call. Told "there is a public phone over the road", my reply was "but it is not working", her reply was "so what, not my problem".

Nice...not!

If the person was an employee -- have a word with the boss. You don't really want to get someone fired, so I wouldn't go into exact detail, just a request that employees be given some training about good business relations with other members of the business community, and how it's to everyone's benefit to help out other in problem situations.

If the person was the boss -- make sure the other business owners/operators in the area know about her attitude! Of course they shouldn't refuse her help if she needs it some day, just have something pointed to say if she does. ;)

I would have had a 'John McEnroe' moment - 'You cannot be serious!'
Then thanked them for their 'help' and informed them sweetly that I'd do the same for them one day!
