don't us brits love the underdog, can't see what the fuss is about, she needs a very good make over then, loose about 4 stone, then she may just be bearable.

Janey Canuck in the West!

Ah, the whole world loves an underdog.

Even the yanks, success-worshippers that they are. Anybody remember how they embraced and went to bat for Canadian skaters Jamie Salé and David Pelletier when they were cheated out of gold a couple of Olympics ago? Bless their little fair-play hearts.

Why is it that people think that they have the right to comment on anyone else's looks?

'Beauty is only skin deep'

Some of the nicest people, male or female that I have met in my life would not win any beauty competition.

I think the majority of people who are making a fuss are commenting on her voice. Like Carol, I can hardly believe what has been written on here!
Don't seem to remember the same comments as i've seenon here about Paul Potts!
Pavarotti was hardly a slim Jim either - or is it more acceptable for men to look like who they are rather than what society thinks they should look like?
Don't see why she's an 'underdog' either. Her first time on national TV - and her voice gets known all over the world!!
Or is she considered an 'underdog' because she doesn;t look like some plastic false boobed moron!
To be honest anyone who is only a 'success' because they have no talent, but have gone through surgery to make themselves 'acceptable' to the old bags and ugly critics within the media are more of an underdog.
Susan Boyle went on 'Britain's got Talent' - not Miss World!!

BTW, I'm sure those of you who feel the need to make comments about her can sing like angels and are very proud of your natural size 10 bodies!!
And I'm sure all your friends are 'perfect' like you - after all, unless they look perfect - they can't have any talent /personality and therefore no-one will want to know them.!

Just listen to the voice Marion!

Mac, she's a lady who was on 'britain's got Talent' a couple of weeks ago.
Amazed Simon Cowell et al that a woman doesn't have to be 'beautiful', seductive or indeed anything other than 'normal' to have a voice.

This shows it all:

You got it, Maggie:

"Or is she considered an 'underdog' because she doesn;t look like some plastic false boobed moron!"

That's it in a nutshell.

She has two strikes against her (in the entertainment industry, as in life) because of her looks.

A man might have one strike against him for the same reason. ;)

I thought he (Shaheen Jafargholi) was brilliant too Mac. To be able to carry on after Simon had stopped him as well - so brave!!

The wee lad was good too.
