Many of you will remember that my parents were on a cruise 2 years ago and my Dad collapsed and my sister and I had to go to Malta to help them .Well , this year they had booked a cruise again -the Med -in 2 weeks time-booked months ago. Anyway Mum has taken ill and is in hospital for tests -chest pains. So , they wondered if her brother and his wife would go in their place . Cunard have said """NO " .So that means they will resell the cabin -what a cheek !

That's a shame Ros, I do hope your Mum will be ok. I remember well the Malta saga as that's how you and I got talking!

Didn't your parents take out insurance so they are covered for this kind of thing, wouldn't have thought they could book without it especially with their health problems so should be able to claim.

Pretty mean of Cunard, you should contact Watchdog about it.

That's a bit mean of Cunard. Can't her brother and his wife go under pseudonyms?
What if your mum is okay in 2 weeks?

my mother in law suffers from angina after having a heart attack 10 years ago they go on lots of cruises my father in law loves them

they went on one a couple of years ago and MIL put her back out she spent the week in bed whilst FIL had a whale of a time in the casino.

mean of cunard though

i had to cancel this year holiday as my dad was diagnosed with bowel cancer in feb and we where all going to spain this month. fly Be would not refund the cost of the flights even though i gave them 8 weeks notice so they resold the flights and kept our money tight sods.

Have your parents paid the full amount? are they not getting any money back of Cunard? If so, what right have they to sell the cabin, what happens if your dad decides to go by himself? surely they have paid for the cabin! (I'm not saying he will, but they have to take that into account surely?)

A booking may be transferred to another person provided that the Guest consults with Cunard and Cunard receives the transfer request between 56 and 14 days(inclusive) before the scheduled departure date , Cunard will normally agree to such a transfer only when the original Guest will be prevented from travelling by reason of an event such as illness, death of a close relative or jury service and Cunard may require satisfactory evidence before agreeing to the transfer. All transfers of a booking to another person at any time up to 14 days or more before the scheduled departure date will be subject to an administration charge of £20. Any request for a transfer of a booking to another person which is received by Cunard 13 days or less before the scheduled departure date shall be treated as a cancellation by the Guest. so if this is correct providing the request was made 14 days prior to sail date you can have had a name change for £20.
