Is anyone going to the Pudsey Dolls House and Miniatures Fair on Saturday 25th April. If you are, perhaps we could meet there and have a cuppa.

I would love to go to the Pudsey fair but unfortunately live too far away. How long have you been into Dolls houses? I am a beginner with 18 months behind me. Due to the amount of room I will only be able to have one house, so I went for a three storey.

Are you into making items for the house?

Regards
Sandra

I live easily near enough to go, and could take my daughter, but I don't have a Doll's House, and probably can't afford to get one (I suspect they're pricey)

Will there be nice things to see even if I can't buy? Or do you need to be a serious enthusiast for it to be worthwhile?

Hi Welshsandie,
I have been into dolls houses for about ten years, started byt saving and collecting furniture etc., for five years, every anniversary asked family anf friends for cash to buy and kept nattering my OH to make me a house, I dew just what I wanted and he finally made it to specs. I didn't want a mansion just a house. I gor what I wanted, two storeys and an attic with two rooms, eight altogether and I did the electrics and the decorating. It is Victorian/Edwardian. just got to do drapes in silk have only guipure lace up at the moment. OH bout me anoth one two Xmas's ago and I've got modern furnishings for that but not started on it yet. too busy doing family history.

Hi Broggy, It's something to make the effort for. There are all sides of the hobby represented and some beautifully crafted things to see. You don't have to have a house to appreciate the craft. This particular Fair is twice a year, April and November and there are usually upto 100 exhibitioners there, from china to silver to wood to clothing for the " families" We go to both shows and have done fo the past 3/4 years, about an hour and a half drive for us up the motorway, we go to all the local shows but this is ,for us, the best.

Ok well I might try and get there. I've seen it advertised locally for the past few years but have never been.

Hi Broggy,
I got my first dolls house kit for Christmas 2007 - my daughters bought it for me. I think the kit was £30 and delivery about £14. It was by a person known as bob thedolls house builder. I just looked to see if he was still making them, when I found this!!!
I Item number: 190300684714 (sent the item number to my daughters as I don't have a credit card )
There are quite a few 'failed' projects that seem to be quite cheap, so it may be worth while looking.
Sue Ryder shops sell dolls house furniture at incredibly low prices (according to my friend the carpenter), which means I can let my 7 year old grand daughter play with the house(s) without worrying if she dmages anything.

We have a local doll fair every year. I take my mum because she loves dolls and doll houses. They also have bears. It's a lovely morning out. In Sydney there is a huge craft fair every June. It's full of quilts, bears, dolls, lace making - every craft you can think of. Plus all the stalls selling craft supplies. I save every year for a spend up:)

Yes, my mother's family are Pudsey folk, Maria. My father's family are Bramley - I was born there. Dad's family is Leeds as far back as I've gone but Mum's paternal side come from Boston Spa and Sherborne in Elmet. So yes I'm a Yorkshire lass:)

No way Sue.

I've got folks on my tree from Armley, Bramley, and loads in Barwick in Elmet, just a hop across a field from Sherborne.

Im still a Leeds lass now, born & bred.

That's spooky, Maria. I was actually born in Armley at the hospital there that is now an old folks home - St Mary's I think.
