should girls have the same opportunities to further their football careers as boys and should lady footballers get paid the sae as the men?

I think their pay depends on their skills and the size of the clubs they play for ...and the bigger the crowd puller the bigger they get paid....I cant see it changing in the next 10 years to much sexism in the game the jokes about stopping to put their lippy on or being a butch bunch of lesbians is a load of cack as for women football teams they have been around for years my niece is 24 still trains 2 nights a week and still plays for a club , even twice had trails for England.

yes Hayley I agree it does depend on the club does she have to work Hayley or does football pay her bills? I have a friend plays for Walsall she has to work to pay her bills.

thing Im getting at is take my nephew n daughter for instance one has trial at baggies n one wth wolves the one at baggies is the better player and she can run rings round her cousin they both get offered places at the age of 10 now 3 years later she is alomost as good as Beckham and he well keeps falling over in a year or two their future could be decided statistics prove he is more likely not only to play for a big club lets say Liverpool cos thats both their dreams than she is and he is always going to earn more than her ~ even if she gets the chance to fulfill her dream she will still need to work to subsadise her income ~ is this right that a b?etter player has less opportuniy and potentially earn less money cos she is a girl also out of our league of say 150 girl maybe only two will go on to play club football in a proper {not grassroots} league and out of those 2 its very unlikey either would get the opportunity to play for their country

she works....its still very much her hobby..she left school and went to college for 3 years and is a now qualified coach she has her badge...but has never used to earn a living she is an officer admin...I do believe that the USA has a big indrusty for Female soccer but they have to be sponsorsed to go over there.

Mel you put............

cos she is a girl also out of our league of say 150 girl maybe only two will go on to play club football in a proper {not grassroots} league and out of those 2 its very unlikey either would get the opportunity to play for their country

But the above is same for boys, out of 150 13/14 year old boys who play in Saturday leagues only two could get full time contracts with professional clubs and neither of them would play for there country.

I understand though what you mean about the profile of Womens football not being very high, but that is down to the public of this country who at this moment in time who want to watch Male football first and foremost

My friends daughter played for Doncaster Belles, and hope to take it further but realised in her early 20's that this would not be a career for her and decided to pursue a career and keep football as a hobby

Thats fantastic Hayley it gives me a glow to hear it x your right the big places are USA n Brazil but they do need to be sponsored to go its harder for girls to get on really they can be very skillful and very dedicated and I alwes believe in dedication ~ twice trials for England she must be worht watching and who knows she may get selected soon ~

I watch good quality football every saturday heres nowt like grassroots {boys and girls} who do it for the love of it, but the best professional game I ever saw was a few years ago at Nottingham the ladies cup final Everton v Chelsea and the atmostshere was fanastic and the crowds was made up of girls from all over the country from local grassroots eams and the noise waswell it knocked my socks off ~ these girls deserve brigher futures doing what they love and what they do well and paid a wage worthy of them x

There are more signings on the whole for boys Jessie already in ar school six are signed yet sadly no girls Im not being sexist or owt but lets go with what your saying theres equal opps for boys n girls alie what happens next is the proffessional ladies league is nowhere as big as the mens so the gap begins to narrow then more girls are competing against one another and very few {maybe Arsenal, Chelsea n Everton} pay much more teams than not take the girls on and the girls have find a job to do to subsadise this ~ if it were a man {he's worth millions} he may be on a par with a lady as far as skill is concerned

Doncaster Belles I heard of they are a good side ~ we seem to know some talented young ladies on here again Im all a glow n the profile of the game does need raising Hayleys right they aint made much progress nor ar they likely too in say next 10 years x

They won't be paid the same even if the skills are the same or better becasue of the sponsorship of Male clubs and the viewing /paying public - Have you looked into America for your girls, the sporting opportunities over there for girls are greater in the football sense............................. and they get a whole new life in a new country at the same time which is education in itself for them.

The girl ( now a women ) we know who played for Donny Belles and also Leeds at one time was far more skillful than most males and could run rings round them, but unfortunatley until the public take to womens football people like her and your daughters will never realise their potentials which is a shame

~♥footie~angel♥~ Report 22 Apr 2009 21:28

Jessie yes we managed to send two girls from my previous club to American academies on sponsorship however this was only for a year and they both needed part time jobs whilst out there ~ they did well and enjoyed it bought a lot home from it ~ they went on to coach other teams successfully

your right these girls/ladies might never get spotted for their potential n 8/10 ar as good if not better than a lad who might get signed up x
