Hi Ros,
Try C & P the info on the document into a new word doc & save this with a different name.

hi Rosalyn,

This sounds very much like the permissions have changed on the folder you're trying to save the file to.

Is this a simple home PC?
Are you saving the document to the internal disk drive, or are you trying to save it to a memory stick or something similar?

Try saving the doc to a different place, by selecting the following from the menu:

File => Save as .... => [click on a new folder location from the one that's displayed automatically in the little window that pops up]

If this doesn't work, you may somehow have accidentally changed all the file and folder permissions on your hard drive (not sure what you'd have done to make this happen, but it is possible). Alternatively, there could be a problem with your hard drive that's causing folder permissions to become corrupt; that could be serious!

Unfortunately, changing all these permissions is a little beyond the scope of what I can describe here - if you're a comparative novice (?) then it's rather complicated to explain without diagrams etc. If you still have trouble and want to PM me on here with your email address, I can send you some more instructions or we can try to work it though using MSN.

Bedtime here now, though I'm afraid, so message me tomorrow if it's practical to leave things unsaved until then.

To open a document, workbook, or presentation with restricted permission.
On the File menu, point to Permission, and then click Unrestricted Access

Stab in the dark here Ros, - have you somehow saved it as a 'read only' document before?
As has been suggested, try saving it under a different name.

Are you trying to save it with symbols amongst the letters. Perhaps it does not like that?

Other than that I dont know what to suggest, sorry Ros.

Sorry Ros, I should read things better.

Have you altered a document and have asked to save it under the same name ?

Try saving it with a slightly different name. Again I dont quite know what to suggest. Hope someone can help you if my suggestion is useless lol
