Winter Drawers Ever Near

Winter Drawers Ever Near Report 24 Apr 2009 19:01

Evening,

I frequently think back on six happy carefree summers I used to spend with my aunt and uncle. We used to go to a small village in Donegal.

We stayed in the pub but my grandmother's friend had a farm about 1/4 mile down the road and we went there every other day.

I learned how to fish for rainbow trout and on the farm I milked the cows, made butter and cheese and fell on many an occasion into the peat bogs.

Today I was playing about on the internet and called up the place and the pub is still there. Got an award last year. It has been tarted up but still white stonewashed. I have pictures of me sitting outside it with the landlord's white dog.

I trawled around and came across a property for sale. The farmhouse itself is in ruins but it is the same one I spent many a happy hour running wild and free on.

It's on the market for 450,000 euros. Well if I win the lottery tonight I might just put in an offer for it.

Brought back some wonderful memories.

Hi Aileen, you've prompted me to look at property in Ireland, where my ancestors come from in Kerry. Have to say seems expensive! Wonder if the prices there have not dropped as much as over here? Interesting though :)

Hi ladies,

Jean the internet if nothing else does jog the memory of things from the past.

Just seeing familiar Irish landmarks brought suddenly back a flood of memories long forgotten.

I think Rose that it is the same over there as here with properties dropping in price. I think it is a world wide problem.
