My boyfriends mum to celebrate her 60th did two nights in London a river cruise and a trip on the London Eye, as they had lived in London year back so for them just seeing how things had changed was entertaining so went for a wonder around rather than doing a show. Me and my boyfriend joined them for the cruise and eye, which was a package deal and made a memorable day out, the boat we went on was fab (virtually all glass the bateux I think, or maybe thats the name of the company).

Another thing is if you are not set on what hotel you want to stay in but fancy a treat its worth investigating the 'mystery' luxury hotels some sites advertise (think one site that does this is LondonTown.com), basically you get a 4/5* hotel for a fraction of the normal price.

I'm toddling off now, thanks in advance to anyone coming up with any more ideas

Hairspray is one of the best shows I've seen.......everyone walked out grinning....a really feelgood musical. The new Premier Inn near St Pancras/Kings Cross is very modern, huge choice for breakfast and a reasonable price.

I want to see Jersey Boys...have heard it is very good.

Mummo - my son keeps looking hopefully at me and saying that he's sure I would really like to go to Las Vegas for my 60th and of course he'd come along just to keep us company!

I think first you should decide who you want to spend the day with, have you got family that want to be with you that day, if you have why not a nice picnic somewhere with them, then later on you and OH do something special on your own.

Mo and Helen - like both those suggestions. Would love to go on the Orient Express. Think its incredibly expensive though - not sure why
(I'm sure I'm worth it though!!!)

How about the Orient Express.I think it does little runs in England where you can enjoy a trip and a lovely meal with all the trimmings

Have a day trip there then or an overnight stay.
Maybe even a walk round the grave yard,very romantic pressie that would be lol

Actually Marion it wouldn't cost much as they DID only live about ten miles away. Though I do have Irish relatives on my dads side, I just can't find out where.

What about a trip to where your rellies were from?

Don't think I'm brave enough for the hot air balloon and my husband is terrified of heights!!
Must say my one thought had been to go to London and see a show. Wondered about "We will rock you" or the Jersey boys" Has anyone seen either of them.
Am open to any other suggestions!!

Hi all
I'm 60 this year and my husband wants to know what I want to do to celebrate. I don't fancy a party but after that my minds a total blank (nothing unusual there!!) Anyone any bright ideas.
Think a holiday might be too expensive by the way
