The current records are OK, what find I frustrating is the absence of Parish Records. These are absolutely essential if researching post 1800 and back,
Plus of course the need to go elsewhere for Scottish records. Wouldn't it be great if GR was a one-stop shop? :-)

Many parish records are readily available elsewhere and often for free. Have you looked at the following

Family Search (IGI)
Online Parish Clerk Project
FreeREG,

for example?

If GR was a "one-stop shop" for all records I don't think any of us would be able to afford the subscription which would have to increase dramatically. Some records are not available to GR anyway. No one has a monopoly on everything!!

It matters not one iota that GR doesn't 'Own' any records. In fact you could argue that as GR is part of FMP then FMP's records are equally theirs.

No, what is far more important is how much it costs and what you get for your money. When compared against other sites GR is not the most expensive and for those whose main interest is with BMD's and Censuses then could well be better value for money.
