Haribo Report 1 May 2009 13:16

At the age of 15 and at the height of Grease fever I saved up a months babysitting money for a pair of skin tight black pvc trousers whick could only be zipped-up with the help of a coat hanger while laying flat on my back...ohhhhhhh they were so uncomfortable and left my hips bruised.

Around this time (late 70's) I remember thinking I was a fashion trendsetter in my chunky brown/beige Starsky cardigan........aggggghhhhh

Memories of the Afghan coat....

Me and numero uno mate spent a month's salary on one each.

Back home we went......

Afghan coats were pegged out on the washing line until me and numero uno mate were ready to trip the proverbial light fantastic

Emerging stage left, me in velvet bell bottoms, numero uno mate in maxi skirt and floaty feminine stuff. Both in fashionista Afgham coats.

It doesn't get more stylish than this.......

MRS igor the flame haired Irish trollop says my whole wardrobe ie a fashion disaster.
which is rich coming from someone who , when we were courting (an old fashioned word i know) wore a vivid , green kaftan that looked like a 4 man tent

Lol Gordon.........good for you .

I wear the clothes I want to these days........sooner or later the wheel turns and I'm back in fashion again : )

I had the torment of having to wear elder brothers clothes.

Yes, I had to wear flared trousers when they were no longer cool. I had box heel shoes, clamdiggers (probably the most idiotic shoe design ever), wide lapels, wide ties, and parka coats. All 'Cool' in their day, but not 5 years later.

I am now at peace with the fashion industry. I don't care.

I've never really been a " fashion" person . I think it stems from my childhood , having two older brothers I just used to wear their out grown clothes . People would ask if I was a boy or a girl.....lol
I once asked my Mum why I didn't look like other girls and she had a guilt attack and bought me a pair of white lacy socks.

I really don't think I could do " smartly dressed " if I tried.......lol

I also remember the platform shoes (first time around) me and my mate Pat loved them and we had six inch high ones once, we couldn't actually walk very far in them, had to stick out backsides out just to keep our balance but hey we thought we looked lovely...
