Dear Dancing Dee

I looked this up in my old english customs book.

For about 200 years, it was widely believed that bathing the face with dew on the 1 May was very good for the complexion.
It was reputed that ladies should make a wish when gathering it.
May dew apparently brought good health and fertility.

In the old days, May Day was also called Beltane. It was a major festival for all society to be a part of.

Beltane meant the celebration of fertility, all things good, for animals and
the rampant growth of summer.

A day to celebrate the earth and all its natural riches.

Also a time to plan ahead as there is now more expansive energy.

Happy May Day and weekend.

Best wishes
x

This has got nothing to do with May Day, but I had a great Aunt called May (I never knew anything about her till I started my tree) she married someone called Albert Day, so her name became May Day.
