Hiya Pink,Daff is right ,most modern weedkillers contain a contact poison that goes in through the leaves and destroys the plants down to the roots.
These weedkillers become inactive when they hit the soil so your plant should be perfectly safe ,if you use a watering can to administer the killer as there will be no overspray to hit the plants leaves.Fred

Hello Pink... lovely to see you again.

If pulling the grass isn't working... it can be difficult as all the root needs to be got out... grass will regenerate otherwise... use a systemic weedkiller... make sure it is one that will go up to the trunk of shrubs and bushes, and that it is safe for cats and children once dry.... Then wrap a piece of plastic or similar around the pieris, and spray or paint the grass gently..... make sure it is a dry and very calm day, no wind around.

Hi Pink, what I did with mine, was to pull as much grass out as poss then dig out with a trowel and take as much compost out as you can, then top up with new compost (which will do it good) then cover round the top with weed control blanket and cover with gravel.Did my pots 2yrs ago and just get the odd weed and grass now that are quite easy to pull out,hope this helps Sheila

Morning people, hope you are all well.... I know this is completely random but I know you lovely lot will have the answer.

I have a Pieris in a pot but it seems the compost I used had grass seed in it, so I need to know how to kill the grass without killing the plant, the plant is nearly 20 years old and very large so repotting is near on impossible.

Can you advise?
